This challenge has really  helped me be more aware of my impact on the environment. There are so may small things that do not take much effort that go a long way
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nourishing Food Weekly Meal Planning
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four in the US spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?

    Alydia Fields 10/26/2022 11:56 AM
Unfortunately it does not surprise me. I know there are times myself where I have food in the fridge but ultimately end up eating our or ordering in because it is more convenient. I would rather use this money towards saving or towards a better future.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Regenerating Nature Spend Time Outside
What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time inside and on screens?

    Alydia Fields's avatar
    Alydia Fields 10/26/2022 11:55 AM
Physical and mental well being can decline. It can also make it to where you are not socializing as much. You may not feel connected. Having a false sense of reality as you only see what is on the screen
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Enacting Equity Shop at BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, Disabled, & Women-Led Businesses!
In your community, how can you work to address systemic racism, sexism, ableism and additional forms of exclusion in the businesses?

Get involved. Support doesn’t have to come from people in your family or circle of friends. You can get involved with like-minded groups and organizations, whether locally or online. It can help to know there are other people who have had similar experiences to yours. And connecting with those people might help you figure out how to address situations and respond to experiences of discrimination in ways you haven’t thought of.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Balancing Consumption What is Sustainable Fashion?
How can you express your personality, creativity, and values in ways that don't require fast fashion or buying more clothes and accessories?

Upcycling is a big one. Taking clothing and fabrics and creating something new with them. Buying from small businesses especially local
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Enacting Equity Watch a Documentary about Racial Injustice
What did you learn about racial injustice in the documentary(ies) you watched? How does what you learned connect to your understanding of sustainability?

Despite the 2030 Agenda’s promising rhetoric, it largely fails to fulfil its pledge to ‘leave no one behind’ when it comes to the principles of racial equality and non-discrimination,
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nourishing Food Eat Plant-Based Meals
What was the tastiest meatless or vegan meal you ever had or had recently? Did you make it? Can you share a recipe?

My favorite vegan meal I recently had is baked ziti. I had it a vegan restaurant called Mothers near by and it was amazing!

Is that the Mothers in Austin? I've never actually visited, but I've had food from there--my niece was an employee--and it was delicious.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

How can you prevent yourself from accumulating more things in the future?

    Alydia Fields's avatar
    Alydia Fields 10/18/2022 11:04 AM
If it isn't something I need but just want, wait a few weeks and if I still want it then think about how it will benefit me or if it will go to good use.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Balancing Consumption Track My Purchases
What have you noticed about your purchases? Where are you inclined to make shifts, if any?

    Alydia Fields's avatar
    Alydia Fields 10/18/2022 11:03 AM
I have created a budget spread sheet so i can see where my income goes and not wonder where it went. It has helped me save money and cut out anything not needed.
