So here we are on the last day of the EcoChallegne. I hope you got something out of it. If not, here is a tidbit to take away: It is good to consider your personal impact on the person, situation, earth, etc. with whatever you do. Despite While you are only one person, your actions can encourage others to do the same and when it comes to the earth, that translates into being more eco-friendly. Thanks for participating! :-)

Ahh! I have not posted anything inspirational these past few days. Sorry. And today I feel less than inspirational with the dreary, wet weather. I will also admit my life/work balance is very much off kilter. That hasn't helped any. But this afternoon I am leaving early to take a How to Compost refresher. I am sure not much has changed in 20 years but, like this challenge, the opportunity to see, hear, and learn things is often the best way to revive old thoughts and habits. I hope at the end of this you will be willing to share at least one thing you took away from this challenge. We are in the homestretch now!

Morning Folks. So as typical, I am blabbing on ... via this Feed. But what about you folks? Forming any new habits? Learning anything new? Wish I would just shut up already? :-) Doesn't have to be earth shaking. But if you feel moved, please check in how it is going. Honestly, for me, I am not doing much more than I usually do as far as actions go. But I am learning, if for no other reason than to provide you folks with digital content to help you and me achieve those "Do Once" activities.

And I also stumbled upon a 2015 documentary about the ravages of fast fashion (The True Cost). But luckily folks are getting it. Forget about new clothes every season. Reusing last year's fashion, sometimes in a new way, is a thing. Emma Chamberlain has been a big influencer on Buy Better, Wear Longer. And now for a shameless plug, Jess and a few classmates are creating an Insta account for a store that just sells "consciously created items". It's a class project. https://instagram.com/thisoldbagofficial?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=  Might be good to follow this trend, at least in part?

This weekend got me thinking. I already put out there I have a box in the office for items to donate to the Trenton Mission. My church is also asking for food donations and baby clothing. So, if it is easier to bring such items in, rather than getting them to appropriate places on your own, feel free to deposit in my cube and I will get them to either the Mission or my church's food pantry. These 2 activities help you complete the Nourishing Food and Cultivating Communities Team activities. Just tryin' to help! :-)

OK, it is day 10 of 22. I just found somewhere that the website gives us the countdown. I am finding it interesting, and disappointing, that things like food insecurity and clean water are not just problems in other countries. They are here in the US as well. I guess I know that - look at Flint. And when I was in Minnesota a few years ago there were commercials all over the radio about where to get help or recommend someone for help if they are food insecure. But seeing a map for me makes it more real. Anyone know of organizations that work specifically here in the US on these issues? I need to do research and maybe make a donation through The NJ Employees Charitable Campaign? I'll let you know what I find.

I think today is Day 9. I know we have been at it a full week. How are you doing with your learning and habit goals? Sometimes to good things we want to do suffer because of too much going on either at work, at home, or both. Maybe take time to read 9 Tips on How to Achieve Better Work-Life Balance (leaderforgood.com) to see what Work-Life Balance means and how you can introduce into your schedule ways to achieve such a goal.

And to help you with your learning I suggest a few videos: Food Sovereignty in the USA: A Selection of Stories | USFSA (usfoodsovereigntyalliance.org) and https://youtu.be/KgoiGhbUsrg (Food Sovereignty)

Yikes, sorry I have been away so long! I know I have fallen behind in doing at least something every day. But today is a new day and can be a new start to creating new habits and learning new things. So, if you are like me, shake off the dust and find something to do or read or watch that is on our Team or your personal action list. Or go crazy and reshuffle your daily or one time action list.

Day 2!  And our ranks have doubled!  I will tell you now that I will not be posting on Saturdays and Sundays. I typically post in the morning, when it is still calm and quiet in the office. If I open my computer on the weekends, I will probably get caught up in work which is not good for the work / family balance.
Anyway ... one of the daily tasks is to gather an item or two a day to donate. So, if you haven't already brought your stuff in for the freecycle event, if you would like I am setting up a box in my office for such donations. Then, at the end, I will bring the box to the Trenton Mission.
