  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Nourishing Food Watch a Documentary about Food Sovereignty
How does food sovereignty address the complex transition from localized food systems to modern global food systems?

I watched "Gather" on Netflix about indigenous people in America and their food sovereignty. I learned that lack of nutritious foods have created "food deserts" in impoverished areas such as on reservations, creating many health challenges for these people.  They are attempting to regain sovereignty and health by reconnecting with their heritage and teaching newer generations how to live off the land and become food sovereign once again.

Took PTO on Friday, and spend Friday and Saturday in the mountains with my two oldest kids.  Fished and hiked.  No bites, but time well-spent.

Happy Friday to all!  We are off to a great start I think.  If you are not checking in each day, please make it a habit next week.  Also, if you don't find yourself holding to your commitments easily, change it up!  Look through the ACTIONs and pick something new.  Have a good weekend!

Took my youngest to the park this morning for a break from screens.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Balancing Consumption Less Screen Time
What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time inside and on screens?

I think it's pretty clear - the last couple years as COVID was impacting society, more and more people have spent more time on screens, and the results show that more people feel more isolated than ever before.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Balancing Consumption Reduce Social Media Use
Social media can keep us connected with loved ones, make us laugh, and help us to learn new things. It can also create echo chambers and take more time than we realize or intend to give. After completing this action for a few days, how do you feel? What do you notice?

Instead of waking up and spending my early morning on my phone, I went outside for a quick walk.
