I fixed an old house slipper in which the bottom sole had split from the rest of the shoe - pretty easy fix; just glued it back together with shoe glue. The shoe glue I found at the craft store was really nasty stuff though... Next time, I'm going to try and find a less toxic glue.

    Balancing Consumption Less Screen Time
What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time inside and on screens?

There are obvious health impacts in terms of the lack of physical activity. Depending on what people are doing on their screens, there may also be more insidious impacts for our brains and the way we process and relate to information. Our attention spans are shorter than ever and there are endless distractions. How does that affect our ability, individually and as a society, to learn and grow and tackle complex problems?

Neil Postman wrote a great book about this called Amusing Ourselves to Death. It was written in 1985 and talks mostly about television culture, but it's still very relevant and, if anything, is even more relevant today.
