I typically am very good about budgeting but every once in a while, it's good to take a step back and re-evaluate. There are some purchases that I have let go (example: xfinity bill went up because promo ended) that can be changed in order to save more money. It is just a matter of dedicating the time and effort to take care of it.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Regenerating Nature Explore My Area
How can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place? Was there a new place in your region that was exciting to learn about and visit?

Spending more time outdoors makes you more aware of your surroundings. My husband and I walked to our market instead of driving and I noticed a house I've never noticed before! I must have passed it 1000 times until I became more aware while being outside.

What did you find surprising or hopeful in your research?

I looked up the garbage and recycling program in my Village/town. I have noticed that most houses have two cans, but I never realized that the smaller one meant for recycling was provided in addition for free. I can imagine how that would help people's motivation to recycle because you don't have to take the items anywhere different!

I have repaired numerous charging cords: Between kids pulling at them and a pet rabbit who enjoys "spicy hay," I have been electrical taping the cords as opposed to throwing them away and buying new ones.

Balancing Consumption Reduce Social Media Use
Social media can keep us connected with loved ones, make us laugh, and help us to learn new things. It can also create echo chambers and take more time than we realize or intend to give. After completing this action for a few days, how do you feel? What do you notice?

I have noticed the more time I spend without social media-the less I miss it. It is such a habit to sit on the couch, bored, and scroll through my phone. Every empty moment I would scroll through Facebook but since being more mindful of it, I am able to fill my days with other (more important) things!
