  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use a Reusable Mug
Maybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reusable one, but it's just hard to make the switch. What stands in your way of making this a habit? By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?

I think anyone can complete this challenge and incorporate it in their everyday lives. It all comes down to "time" It is time consuming to stick to green habits but the reward is so fulfilling. This Eco Challenge proves that if you chose this category I am sure you can see after 31 days what an impact you are making and how making the time, makes all the difference. Time spent can be impactful for all these categories and offset negative outcomes in the years to come!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Choose Organic Ingredients
What is your perceotion of organic food? After cooking with and eating organic food, has your perception changed?

    Melissa Hutton 10/31/2024 2:36 PM
My perception of organic food is like a fine wine. It may cost more but you get what you pay for! I use to not buy as much organic products because of rising costs, but after incorporating more organic produce in my diet, I feel better and in my opinion, our health is priceless :)

If I’m buying meat, I’ve done the research and will only buy organic grass fed!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Whole Foods Diet
Michael Pollan states that “it is better to pay the grocer (our edit: or the farmer!) than the doctor.” What are your thoughts on this assertion?

    Melissa Hutton's avatar
    Melissa Hutton 10/31/2024 2:33 PM
I believe it's true, just like the saying "an apple a day keeps the doctor away!" there is definitely truth in buying foods from the source and finding nourishment in whole foods :)

Snack time is always a good time! Now when I enjoy my favorite lemon Luna or other protein based bar I recycle the candy wrapper at work! We have a program in place at BRI to divert this mixed plastic from the landfill and be recycled into new products.
