I can't believe this is almost over! I have so much research to do tonight. sigh . . . But onward!

Just posted my pic of the finished no-lawn pathway!!! Check out the progress - from total weeds, to dirt, to path! I love it. Hope you do, too.
Weeds removed - cardboard as temporary ground cover to help prevent weeds.
The BEFORE. I had knee surgery and couldn't do a thing. WEEDS as tall as me. When we dug them out, some of the roots were almost 3 feet deep!

Thanks, Steve. I am SO READY to have the backyard DONE. We still have to put in the beds across the back, transplant everything AND finish the flagstone patios. But hey - the pathway is done at least.

I pretty much finished my no-lawn pathway! LOTS of sweat over the weekend and the last few evenings. I have enough rock leftover to put in the front. I promise I will check in later with a photo of the completed path. SO EXCITED it is finally done - and to share it with you later!

It's one of the challenes. It automatically calculates how much it would cost to off-set your estimated carbon footprint. Then you sign up to pay your monthly offset cost. My cost is $24/month.

I think I'm acutall doing pretty well in this category. I've got solar panels, a mini-split and all of my appliances are Energy Star rated!

We BOTH love that car!!! I am due for an upgrade. I would like to find a hybrid version of the Rav 4 in the bright blue. (Can't do red, because he has that.) He has the PRIME hybrid electric version. I don't think my budget can do that! So I'll be looking for just the hybrid. I also saw a Subaru Ascent that I liked. Have to wonder if it comes in a hybrid version.

After researching some of this stuff I'm seriously thinking of getting a RAV4 Prime like Todd's

This morning, I've been going through and really reflecting on this challenge. I have to say, though I'm not at the top of the list with my company in actions, I'm pretty proud of myself. I've really stepped it up both physically AND mentally to make the most of this. I've done every .  single . . action with integrity and I'm honoring myself by doing it. Way to go - Me!
  • Reflection Question
Action Track: Healing and Renewal Core Values
What are your top 3-5 core values? How did you narrow it down to those as being your core values?

    Marti Mendenhall's avatar
    Marti Mendenhall 10/26/2021 7:53 AM
    1. Integrity. I reflect this in everything that I do. 2. Health. Yep - especially as I get older, I really value and strive for good health! 3. LOVE. I also try to reflect this in all I do. 4. Financial Stability. I try not to overspend!
  • Reflection Question
    Simplicity Research Impact Investing
How might impact investing help you better live your values?

    Marti Mendenhall's avatar
    Marti Mendenhall 10/26/2021 7:47 AM
I've been impact investing for years. I find ways to put my charitable money where it means most to me. It is easy to do. For example, when I order from Amazon, I help the environment. Over the years, Amazon reminds me what a big differnce that makes! This year, I'm doing a fundraiser for a local food charity. Again, aligning with my values.
  • Reflection Question
    Water Fix Leaky Faucets
Fixing leaky faucets is one of the tasks that we can easily put off until later. Good job on completing this action! How will you use the momentum from completing this action to increase your water efficiency in other ways?

    Marti Mendenhall's avatar
    Marti Mendenhall 10/26/2021 7:45 AM
The momentum from this action has lead me to finally fix the spare bathroom toilet - which was having a hard time filling up every day. So, we replaced the innards, so to speak, and now - less leaking!
  • Reflection Question
Nature Learn About the Impact of Old Refrigerants
Why are old refrigerant gases so harmful to our environment?

    Marti Mendenhall's avatar
    Marti Mendenhall 10/26/2021 7:43 AM
Overall, old refrigerants gases can emit CFC's, which in turn can damage the ozone layer (we only have one!) and contribute to warming the atmosphere. Even those that don't damage the ozone can heat-up the atmosphere. Which is a BUMMER!
