The eco-challenge has been really chill and helped me be mindful of a lot of my consumption of plastic, water, and energy.
  • Reflection Question
Food Buy From a Farmers Market
What is one food choice that you make, or could make, that would do more good and less harm?

One way you can do more good is by buying food that is either locally sourced or organic. You don't have to buy all of you fruits and veggies organically but instead do research to see what produce is affected the most by pesticides.

I've been looking into more eco-friendly alternatives to things, like buying soap in bar form instead of bottle form, there are a lot of websites that give zero-waste packaging options as well which is great!

the eco-challenge is pretty chill. it's kind of nice to learn about the impacts i make on the planet.
  • Reflection Question
Waste Use a Reusable Water Bottle
While water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?

Well, because I'm in my house 24/7 I don't really have a need to use a water bottle. Instead I usually pour a glass using the tap. But before quarantine, I would bring a reusable water bottle to school and stuff instead of a plastic one.

I don't understand why people like single use plastic bottles so much.  What a waste of money and resources!  Just fill up a glass of ice water from the tap!
  • Reflection Question
    Food Reduce Animal Products
Why do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?

Meat-based meals are more expensive than vegetarian or vegan meals because it takes more money and resources to raise healthy meat.

This is a really cool challenge and is really making me mindful of exactly how much goes to landfill everyday and seeing ways i can stop contributing as much. I think I've especially stopped using plastic as much, but I'm still using disposables like paper towels and stuff

Another way to cut down on waste is trying to buy second-hand clothing and books as much as possible.
