Regenerating Nature
Use Compostable Disposable dinner items
When planning a party, buy compostable disposable plates. No, you cannot compost them in your backyard, but you can toss it in your trash can or compost bins for city to pick up. They are biodegradable, less waste for landfills.
Regenerating Nature
Learn to Compost
Instead of food waste going to trash can, learn how to compost without any major issues or buying products or Earthworms
Regenerating Nature

Regenerating Nature
Take Shorter Showers
I will save up to 20 gallons (75 L) of water each day by taking 5-minute or less showers. Tip: Use a timer to practice or count to 60 a few times.
Regenerating Nature
Calculate My Water Footprint
I will calculate my water footprint and look for a few ways I can reduce consumption or waste.
Regenerating Nature
Explore My Area
Each day, I will spend 5 minutes exploring a new area around my neighborhood, which might include a park, water body, trail, etc.
Regenerating Nature
Spend Time Outside
I will replace 20 minute(s) per day typically spent inside and often with electronics with quality time outside walking, exercising, enjoying the sunrise/sunset, gardening, journaling, observing nature, or practicing gratitude for nature.

REFLECTION QUESTIONRegenerating Nature Calculate My Water FootprintWhat is one way you will reduce your water use? What is a practice you already have that helps you reduce your water use?
keka ray 10/12/2022 3:39 PMReuse kitchen water to water my plants. I try not sweep and use broom to clean my patio or garage instead of using Hose. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONRegenerating Nature Explore My AreaHow can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place? Was there a new place in your region that was exciting to learn about and visit?
keka ray 10/12/2022 3:29 PMThis year is extremely hot. The flowers are supposed to be gone by now. Jasmines should be in winter mode, but they are still blooming. Spiders are not in sleep; bees are gone though. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONRegenerating Nature Spend Time OutsideWhat are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time inside and on screens?
keka ray 10/12/2022 3:26 PMI am just sad to see the kids now a days inside all day with their cell phone, even at dinner or in a party, adults are doing the same thing. Any time there is aa ping on a mobile phone, people just jump to answer or check; what it is, who is it from, and respond immediately-- totally forgetting the person in front of them and cut them short. -
keka ray 10/12/2022 3:18 PMComposting going well. Learning different methods of composting, reading about it. Some of them or most of them will not work in my home, but it does not hurt to learn. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONRegenerating Nature Take Shorter ShowersWith 5-minute or less showers reducing your water footprint, what do you plan to add next to your water conservation habits?
keka ray 10/12/2022 3:15 PMI was busy ( ha ha,really) this weekend and lots of parties, had to take two showers two days in a row because of health and cleanliness reasons. So, there goes by saving water! But I took shorter showers and turned of water for shampoo and soap times. I also reused by kitchen water to water my plants and other things. -
keka ray 9/16/2022 2:29 PMLast two years I am composting my food waste in my tiny back porch/ landscape area. I have a large pot, holes at the bottom( so earth worms can come and leave at will) only the vegetable peels, no animal products or cooked food waste ( so no unwanted animals), fallen leaves, coffee grounds, tea bags and leaves, egg cells. At first it took for awhile and then , right now, every three months I add compost to my garden and recycle the food waste to earth.
At first I was not sure if my flowers are going to be big enough or healthy enough. I was surprised of the results. I don't use any chemical products to my garden, very healthy garden this year.
Please do not buy earth worms, they do more harm.-
Kristin Bloser 10/04/2022 9:26 AMThis is great Keka! I have a compost bin beside my house. I have to get better at keeping the right mix of green to brown waste within the compost bin, but I agree that compost is great for my plants!
