    we live in the Columbia Slough Watershed. the Columbia Slough empites into the Columbia River which i habitat to the salmon that are important part of the heritage of both indigenous peoples and settlers from other places. salmon don't love polluted run-off.

    our water comes from a reservoir filled by mountain run-off and secondarily from well fields.

    started dehydrating some apples from our recent orchard trip. my dehydrator is a homemade rig built by my best friend from 2nd grade's grandpa (or uncle?).

    Canning and pickling food is a great way to have delicious summer fruits and vegetables all year round. Just make sure to follow the canning and pickling guidelines from the USDA or another trusted source. What are some foods that you would like to preserve and enjoy later in the year?

    we got a huge load of Kiwis from the neighborhood garden adjacent to our kid's school. Going to try to make some Kiwi jam to can or freeze for Xmas presents.

    When riding or walking I feel so much closer to and a part of the communities I'm transiting.

    PFAS chems have been in the news a lot recently, as have all synthetic fibers getting into ecosystems; folks should really consider using natural fiber clothes as much as possible.
