    Sometimes I’ll express myself more with art or the music I listen to in a particular mood, or the way I wear my clothes or put an outfit together. The way things go together (clothes, bags, items you carry, pins, little personal doodles and decorations) can really express all these things too with things you already have or just collect (I keep a lot of cool things my parents or family might otherwise throw away).

    Why is it often difficult to understand the impacts our purchases and waste have on other people, animals, and places?

    It’s difficult to understand because we don’t usually personally see where it goes or what it does; our waste and the effects happen out of our sight, and we typically throw out waste or buy things in small amounts that build up, so it’s hard to understand the impacts.

    Canning and pickling food is a great way to have delicious summer fruits and vegetables all year round. Just make sure to follow the canning and pickling guidelines from the USDA or another trusted source. What are some foods that you would like to preserve and enjoy later in the year?

    I’m not sure what foods I should try to preserve other than pickles (you should totally reply and suggest some for me).

    How has your access to various kinds of transportation throughout your life influenced your current attitudes about transportation and your transportation behavior?

    I’ve usually driven a lot in my life, but in my neighborhood we bike and walk a lot too. Because of that I don’t take a bus or light rail or train very often; it’s not as normal for me unless I’m not near home, but I’ll often walk or bike if I’m not going far and it’s not dark or rainy.

    I usually get around 7 hours of sleep, which isn’t bad, but I still function best with 9. I’m not very good at going to sleep early, but it helps if I don’t procrastinate so I finish homework early, and I’m not on a screen to entertain myself before bed.

    Practicing gratitude can help me focus on the good so I can be optimistic about the next day even if the last wasn’t very good, and it’s easier to try to make the world better when you can do that.
