SU Sustainability Warriors Feed

BACK TO TEAM PAGE

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

I think a big part of this challenge isn't necessarily from making a huge impact completing the actions, but rather in the reflection and self awareness that comes after. It's important for us to step back and really look at ourselves in another light to truly understand what we are doing and what we can do differently to make a difference.

Using my water bottle more over using the glassware in the dining hall is a small thing that I can do while here at SU. Bringing it places with me also prevents the need to buy a drink in a single use package.

After working hard to live more sustainably for the ecochallenge, I feel accomplished. While I know my actions for this challenge were only a small fraction of what needs done to make a difference, it felt good to work toward a goal that I am passionate about. Thank you Ecochallenge!!

One documentary I watched talked a lot about intersectionality and how everything is connected and how race is connected to poverty which is connected to education levels which is connected to a bunch of other things. I think we can apply this to sustainability too. Sometimes it feels like only the less fortunate or the younger generations care about the planet and I think we need to look into why these are connected when addressing climate change.
