I would love to create or support a sharing economy in the community. We have a little free pantry and I would love to add more things so the community could benefit. I know, for us, space, time, and resources could be barriers to starting a sharing economy.

Creating a habit helps me practice mindfulness. Mindfulness practice helps me become more aware of the present moment and the thoughts that arise.

I'm passionate about reusable materials and adopting a zero waste lifestyle. I want to increase my ability to influence others to do the same. And, most importantly, raise our voices to demand more conscious choices from corporations and legislators.

I'm passionate about waste reduction. There are so many adverse environmental impacts from over-production and over-consumption -- to the air, land and water. We can create better, cleaner jobs for people than in creating and getting rid of excessive "stuff." I'd really like to see legislation on packaging -- less, plastic, more uniform standards for glass, etc. so it can be reused. I want to find ways to politely educate people without criticizing their lifestyles.

I am interested in reducing the waste load on the planet. As the population expands the planet suffers from to much trash to losing our wild spaces just from the volume of people. I am also a state parks employee and we have the Waste Wise program at our park, I want to be able to fully explain it to our park guests.

In the last year, for health and for environmental reasons we made the decision not buy any meat or dairy products. Since we don't have those readily available we are able to make meatless and vegan meals every day to reduce our overall intake of meat & dairy.

  • Reflection Question
    Simplicity Needs Vs. Wants
How is creativity a necessary ingredient for practicing simplicity?

Much of our fun, as children, was making whatever we had work.  Our creativity enabled us to create barbie clothes out of old socks, forts from ladders, clotheslines, and blankets, sleds from pieces of cardboard, and so on.  Simplicity requires you to make do with what you have and creativity and ingenuity give you the ability to do that.  You have to be able to look at things differently.  As an adult it provides with the skills to think outside of the box.
