Hi all - the Eco Challenge ends in two days. I hope you can accomplish some of your goals that you set out to do.
I'm attending the New Mexico 2021 Climate Summit. I am eager to learn about what our state is planning to do to help reduce our impact on the planet.

Refrigerants like CFCs destroy ozone in the atmosphere. I remember when the Montreal Protocol was signed to end the use of CFCs and similar substances.

    Water Calculate My Water Footprint
How does your view on water consumption change after completing this action?

It's easy to see water consumption when running a faucet or shower, but you don't see it in the things we eat or buy. I know meat is the biggest one, but I like the way the footprint calculator visualizes it.

55 years ago today there was a tragic accident at the site of a coal mine in Wales. A combination of rain and unsafe practices caused a landslide of coal slurry which killed dozens, mostly young schoolchildren, in the town below. Renewable energy does not do this.

Apparently carbon dioxide is an efficient refrigerant. Why have we not been using it??

I love the challenge because it keeps me on track for doing the lil things that matter, like practicing gratitude daily or having less animal products in my meals.

That's the cultural effect of these challenges, keep little good things ongoing, so that it is forged to be just part of our DNA and nobody need a task assigned or someone creating laws to do what is nature wise.

Practicing gratitude shifts my perspective to focus on all of the good things in my life. I could write down more than 3 when I stop to think about it.
