Heather Phelps 10/23/2025 3:30 PM- Educator 🧠
I was just calculating out that on a trip I took for work yesterday, they'd be willing to reimburse me $30 for gas... but by charging my EV at home, the amount it would actually cost me to drive that far (admittedly not including any wear or tear on the car) would be all of $4! So definitely saving a huge chunk of money by switching to an EV!

Energy
Switch To Cold Water for Laundry
I will switch to washing my clothes in cold water, saving up to 1,600 lbs of CO2 over the course of the next year.
Health
Learn How War and Conflict Impacts People and the Planet
Wars and conflicts have devastating consequences—not only for people and communities, but also for ecosystems, biodiversity, and the climate. I will spend 10 minutes learning about how war and conflict impact human rights, displacement, and environmental degradation. I’ll explore how peace, justice, and strong institutions are linked to sustainability and resilience.
Health
Enjoy Fruits and Veggies
Adding fruits and vegetables to our meals nourishes our body and the planet. I will prepare and enjoy 1 servings of a variety of colorful fruits and veggies.
Health
Prioritize Getting Enough Sleep
Good sleep is essential for a healthy body and mind. I will prioritize getting 30 hours of quality sleep each night and develop a bedtime routine that supports rest and relaxation.
Energy
Adjust the Thermostat
I will adjust my thermostat down 2 degrees from usual when I use the heat, and up 2 degrees when I use air conditioning.
Transportation
Work From Home to Reduce Commuting
I will work from home 2 days to avoid my commute's carbon output.
Transportation
Research and Consider Switching to a Hybrid or Electric Vehicle
I will spend at least 5 minutes researching and weighing my options to see if a hybrid or electric vehicle makes sense for my lifestyle.
Energy
Turn Off Lights and Electronics
I will keep lights, electronics, and appliances turned off when not using them.
Waste
Use a Reusable Mug
I will avoid sending 1 disposable cups to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.

I love my lunch boxes! It's a way to show your personality. I have so many, I actually had to sell some this summer in a garage sale they were starting to get a bit out of hand.
