Health
Go Get a Check Up
Regular health check-ups help prevent problems before they start. I will schedule or attend a medical, dental, or mental health check-up to take care of my well-being.
Food
Follow a Whole Food Diet
Processed foods can be less nutritious for our bodies and take more energy and water to produce, which can create more waste, pollution, and may offer fewer health benefits. I will enjoy 3 meals per day free of processed foods.
Share My Why
Share My Why
I will share my Ecochallenge story and why I'm taking action for the planet — and earn 15 points!
Community
Make Sure You are Registered to Vote
I will make sure I’m registered to vote. While I’m at it, I’ll sign up to help others register too!
Food
Plan Meals for the Week
I will reduce food waste and save money by prepping for 7 meal(s) each day, only buying the ingredients I need.
Energy
Heat and Cool Naturally
I will naturally heat and cool my house, office, or dorm room by opening or closing my windows, curtains, and blinds, and by using fans.
Health
Know My Core Four Biometrics
I will get my Core Four Biometrics tests (blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar and BMI).
Waste
Repair a Broken Item
I will repair at least one item that is broken, but is repairable. This might be items like garden tools, sewing machine, small appliances, electronics, clothing, and more.
Energy
Switch To Cold Water for Laundry
I will switch to washing my clothes in cold water, saving up to 1,600 lbs of CO2 over the course of the next year.
Simplicity
Reflect on My Needs Versus Wants
I will adopt a "Needs Vs. Wants" approach and only buy things I need.
Health
Express Gratitude and Random Acts of Kindness
Small acts of kindness and gratitude can brighten someone's day and create a positive ripple effect. I will express gratitude to 3 people or perform 2 random acts of kindness to spread joy and connection.

REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityWhy is voting important to creating a just, sustainable, and thriving world? In what other ways can you actively participate in important decision-making?
Erika Avalos 10/24/2025 1:37 PMVoting not only gives us the opportunity to learn about important issues but also ensures that we make the best choice. Researching, studying the topic, and diving into discussions and debates help us make informed decisions rather than following the influence of others. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergyWhat do you plan to do with the money you save from making more energy efficient choices?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealthWhat motivated you to schedule or attend your check-up, and how did it make you feel afterward that you completed this action?
Erika Avalos 10/20/2025 11:39 AM- Foodie 🍱
My motivation is to maintain my health and stay on track with it. It feels great afterwards because either I learn what needs improvement or I see how well I've done in maintaining a positive outcome. -

The People's Ecochallenges are going great. You learn a lot from them. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodMichael Pollan states that “it is better to pay the grocer (our edit: or the farmer!) than the doctor.” What are your thoughts on this assertion?
Erika Avalos 10/17/2025 10:51 AM- Foodie 🍱
Cooking for yourself is one of the most empowering choices you can make for your health. When you prepare your own meals, you gain a genuine understanding of what you're putting into your body— from the quality of ingredients to portion sizes. This awareness is crucial for making healthier choices and truly nourishing yourself. While pre-cooked meals and takeout are convenient, they often come with hidden ingredients, excess preservatives, and unpredictable nutritional content that can undermine your health goals. Many health issues are caused by processed sugars and other unhealthy ingredients.-
Janet Beach 10/17/2025 7:10 PMI enjoy the who process of making a meal. Shopping for fresh ingredients, chopping, cooking, and especially the eating. I think cooking is becoming a lost art.

REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicityHow is creativity a necessary ingredient for practicing simplicity?
Erika Avalos 10/17/2025 10:20 AM- Foodie 🍱
Simplicity isn't about having less; it's about finding better, smarter, and more meaningful ways to do or express something with less. -
