I listened to a podcast called CodeSwitch and they talked about how racism as a child has long lasting effects and that participating in therapy can help people get through that, but not fix it. They talked about how having an ambiguous race attracts a lot of attention and that was really hurtful for them while growing up.

What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time inside and on screens?

Today, I replaced 40 minutes of being on my phone by doing my schoolwork and talking with a friend in person. The implications for a culture that spends most of its time inside and on screens is that it is challenging sometimes to put the screen away and focus on the real outside world. I think that sometimes we forget how beautiful and precious the earth really is. We need to be doing more to preserve that beauty.
