  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Community Support Businesses Owned by People of Color
A recent Keen Independent Research Foundation study found that Minority Businesses Enterprises (MBEs) are more likely to have difficulties in receiving loans or city contracts. In what ways can you work to address systemic racism like that demonstrated in this study?

I love to use Kiva to make micro loans to entrepreneurs that are historically underestimated.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

My kids also love to be active so I try to do my exercise with them. We had a cool opportunity to go kick the ball around Providence Park last summer and they keep asking to go back. So hard to explain that we don't get to go to a professional soccer field whenever we want!

I’ve spent this month taking a walk with my neighbor every month! She knows everyone in the neighborhood, so it’s also helped me in my “meet my neighbors” goal.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water Ditch the Lawn
What is the main water source in your region? How does that water get to you?

    Jordan Bowen's avatar

The main water source for landscaping in my area is rain. We are updating our 2,500 square feet front lawn and replacing the majority of the traditional grass with native plants that retain more of the water from rain to withstand the drought of the summer. It will also create a natural barrier between our play space and the street, plus provide a bit of shade.

I didn't realize how many ingredients in common cleaning products posed serious health risks.
