Food
Enjoy a Meatless Meal
Producing 1 kg of beef emits as much greenhouse gas as driving 150 miles, meanwhile, 1 kg of veggies or grains leaves a much lighter footprint! This week, I’ll shrink my climate impact by having 1 meatless meals and/or 0 vegan meals each day.

Make Sure You are Registered to Vote
I will make sure I’m registered to vote. While I’m at it, I’ll sign up to help others register too!
Water
Understand My Water Footprint
Each of us has a water footprint, directly linked to our daily activities as well as the water required in the production of things we use each day. Understanding our water use is important for a healthy planet. I will calculate my water footprint and look for a few ways I can reduce consumption or waste, then share what I learned on the feed.
Waste
Check Recycling Near Me
Recycling rules vary by location. I’ll spend 10 minutes learning which plastics my local program accepts. This helps me avoid “wishcycling” — tossing items in the bin and hoping they’ll be recycled, even if they aren’t.
Energy
Turn Off Lights and Electronics
I will keep lights, electronics, and appliances turned off when not using them.

REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityWhy is voting important to creating a just, sustainable, and thriving world? In what other ways can you actively participate in important decision-making?
Hannah Bradshaw 10/07/2025 10:11 AMLiving sustainably is informed by public policy. Environmental protections are enforced by public policy. Economic decisions are informed by public policy. Social dimensions and equity relating to sustainability are entirely informed by public policy. Voting and influencing public policy is how we promote sustainable living! Participating also means staying informed and being involved in local politics - going to town hall meetings, calling representatives, and talking with people around you. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteWhat did you discover about recycling and waste management in your area that more people should know? How might you share that knowledge?
Hannah Bradshaw 10/07/2025 12:06 AMI learned more today about BottleDrop and the different options for that! I wasn't aware there were specific bags you could buy and drop off rather than manually feeding the bottles in yourself. I'd encourage everyone to learn more about their options and turn their bottles in there rather than throwing them away.-
