Simplicity
Go for a Daily Walk
I will take a walk each day.
Food
Try a New Way to Prep
I will try a new method of food preparation, such as canning, pickling, or baking bread.
Food
Enjoy a Meatless Meal
Producing 1 kg of beef emits as much greenhouse gas as driving 150 miles, meanwhile, 1 kg of veggies or grains leaves a much lighter footprint! This week, I’ll shrink my climate impact by having 1 meatless meals and/or 0 vegan meals each day.

Water
Understand My Water Footprint
Each of us has a water footprint, directly linked to our daily activities as well as the water required in the production of things we use each day. Understanding our water use is important for a healthy planet. I will calculate my water footprint and look for a few ways I can reduce consumption or waste, then share what I learned on the feed.
Energy
Turn Off Lights and Electronics
I will keep lights, electronics, and appliances turned off when not using them.
Health
Exercise Daily
Daily movement supports our physical and mental health. I will spend 30 minutes each day exercising in a way that feels good to me, such as walking, running, stretching, or dancing.
Nature
Learn About the Impact of Old Refrigerants
I will spend 15 minutes researching the impact of old harmful refrigerants on our environment.

REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodCanning and pickling food is a great way to have delicious summer fruits and vegetables all year round. Just make sure to follow the canning and pickling guidelines from the USDA or another trusted source. What are some foods that you would like to preserve and enjoy later in the year?
Hannah Bradshaw 10/24/2025 3:02 PMI love fruit so some berries or peaches are things I would love to preserve and enjoy later on. I also love the flavor of pickled vegetables like onions and cucumbers. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicityFresh air and movement are good for our entire being and can help us think more clearly and creatively. How does taking a walk each day affect yourself and/or your work?
Hannah Bradshaw 10/24/2025 3:01 PMTaking a walk allows me to calm and center myself - a lot of the time, I'll use it to either decompress and relax or to think about something I need to work on. I feel like I'm more productive in my work once I've taken a step back and refreshed myself and can think better about the problems. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNatureWhy are old refrigerant gases so harmful to our environment?
Hannah Bradshaw 10/17/2025 1:40 PMOld refrigerant gasses are ozone depleting. They have been found to break down ozone molecules in the stratosphere, increasing UV radiation. This leads to cataracts, skin cancer, and weakens our immune system, as well as causing harm to our environment. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealthHow did exercising each day impact your physical or mental well-being? What activity did you enjoy most, and why?
Hannah Bradshaw 10/16/2025 10:00 AMExercising every day improves my physical and mental well-being, as long as I don't overdo it. Most of my exercising (tennis club, IM sports, running) are very social sports for me, so it improves my mental well being to be active and hang out with my friends. I enjoy tennis the most as it is a great blend for me of enjoyable activity and getting to be with my friends. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodHow was your experience intentionally trying to eat less meat?
Hannah Bradshaw 10/13/2025 12:17 PMEating less meat is a goal I’ve been thinking about for a long time, so this was good motivation for me to actually stick with it. It encouraged me to be more creative with my meals and cook tofu or different meals. I also ate more fruits and vegetables with my meals! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergyHow is electricity generated where you live? How does it impact the environment, animals, and humans?
Hannah Bradshaw 10/13/2025 12:14 PMOur electricity is generated from a combination of renewable and non-renewable sources. However, it primarily is generated from coal or natural gas. This leads to air, water, and soil pollution that is extremely bad for human and environment health. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaterWhat surprised you most about your water footprint, and how did it influence your perspective on water use? What changes can you make to reduce your water consumption, and how will these impact your daily routine?
Hannah Bradshaw 10/08/2025 11:47 PMWhen I did the water footprint calculation, I was surprised what a big role virtual water use played. I was considering household water use like showers, laundry, and dishwashing, but not driving, recycling, or shopping habits. To reduce my water consumption, I want to limit unnecessary usage in the house and be better about recycling and reusing.-

Most people take water for granted and really never spend and or look into how lucky we are.

REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityWhy is voting important to creating a just, sustainable, and thriving world? In what other ways can you actively participate in important decision-making?
Hannah Bradshaw 10/07/2025 10:11 AMLiving sustainably is informed by public policy. Environmental protections are enforced by public policy. Economic decisions are informed by public policy. Social dimensions and equity relating to sustainability are entirely informed by public policy. Voting and influencing public policy is how we promote sustainable living! Participating also means staying informed and being involved in local politics - going to town hall meetings, calling representatives, and talking with people around you.
