Lisa's actions
Balancing Consumption
Personal Waste Audit
Each day, I will collect, track, or take a picture of all of my unrecyclable, non-compostable trash to know how much I send to the landfill.
Cultivating Communities
Pull Together Items to Donate
Each day, I will find one or more items I can donate to a local thrift or resale shop.
Regenerating Nature
Volunteer in My Community
I will volunteer 3 hour(s) for a nature-based event or another opportunity to support my community.
Nourishing Food
Forest-Friendly Foods
I will spend 20 minutes learning about palm oil, coffee, cocoa, and other products known to contribute to deforestation, and replace or remove them.
Participant Feed

Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONBalancing Consumption Personal Waste AuditWhy is it often difficult to understand the impacts our purchases and waste have on other people, animals, and places?
Lisa Brenskelle 10/10/2022 4:53 PMI think it is because waste is largely invisible in our society. That's why I find doing waste audits periodically so useful - it makes clear what is being wasted and why and helps motivate me to change my habits. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNourishing Food Forest-Friendly FoodsHow did you figure out ways to remove foods that are not forest-friendly?
Lisa Brenskelle 10/10/2022 4:52 PMThe challenge on forest-friendly foods was really educational. I saved all the links so that I can share material from them on Facebook and spread the knowledge!

REFLECTION QUESTIONCultivating Communities Pull Together Items to DonateHow can you prevent yourself from accumulating more things in the future?
Lisa Brenskelle 10/06/2022 1:29 PMActually, the items for donation are ones that I "rescued" when colleagues left my employer and left personal items behind that were still usable, such as sweater and coats.-
Mary Hanks 10/12/2022 7:52 PMHow wonderful that you identified these items and sent them on to continue to be useful to someone!
