Food
Buy From a Farmers Market
I will shop at a farmers market or food co-op to support local farmers and businesses. By doing so, I may be able to learn more about who produces the food I eat and goods I buy.
Simplicity
Research My Investment Portfolio for Alignment with My Values
I will find out what stocks and bonds are in my investment account portfolio to determine if they align with my values (e.g. environmental, social responsibility, community).
Simplicity
Replace Screen Time with Other Activities
I will replace 60 minutes of screen time each day with other activities.
Food
Plan Meals for the Week
I will reduce food waste and save money by prepping for 1 meal(s) each day, only buying the ingredients I need.
Simplicity
Reflect on My Needs Versus Wants
I will adopt a "Needs Vs. Wants" approach and only buy things I need.

REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicityHow is creativity a necessary ingredient for practicing simplicity?
Cooper Campbell 10/13/2025 8:00 PMI went on a trip with the ALI program and we spent a lot of time talking about the needs vs wants when it comes to leading a group. Making sure the group meets its needs before its wants is very important. Making sure the people you are watching over are safe is a key trait in a good leader. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicityIn what ways can you increase the positive impacts and decrease the negative impacts of your financial investments?
Cooper Campbell 10/13/2025 7:46 PMInstead of just scrolling on your phone you can spend even just 10 minutes watching patterns on stocks and etc. The hardest part about stocks is the learning what is actually going on. New practices like these can help you make smart financial decisions. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodWhat is one food choice that you make, or could make, that would do more good and less harm?
Cooper Campbell 10/13/2025 7:43 PMI went on a camping trip last weekend and used stuff I got from the farmers market to feed myself for a couple meals while camping. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicityWhat did you notice in implementing this challenge? Was it hard to choose other activities over screen time? How did you decide to spend your time?
Cooper Campbell 10/02/2025 2:55 PMIt wasn't hard to do other activities, it was just hard to get out of the house and start them. Once I started I didn't care I wasn't watching tv or something like that. I spent my time doing a small hike instead of sitting on my phone. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four in the US spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where else would you rather invest this money instead of wasting food?
Cooper Campbell 10/02/2025 2:50 PMThis does not surprise me. I grew up in a larger family and we would waste a lot of food. This money could get invested into paying bills instead of getting wasted.
