Give 5 compliments
I will give 5 compliments to people I don't know to make their days a little better.
Water
Understand My Water Footprint
Each of us has a water footprint, directly linked to our daily activities as well as the water required in the production of things we use each day. Understanding our water use is important for a healthy planet. I will calculate my water footprint and look for a few ways I can reduce consumption or waste, then share what I learned on the feed.
Food
Listen to a Food Podcast
I will spend 20 minutes listening to a podcast about food.
Nature
Learn About the Impact of Old Refrigerants
I will spend 20 minutes researching the impact of old harmful refrigerants on our environment.
Energy
Turn Off Lights and Electronics
I will keep lights, electronics, and appliances turned off when not using them.
Energy
Switch To Cold Water for Laundry
I will switch to washing my clothes in cold water, saving up to 1,600 lbs of CO2 over the course of the next year.
Energy
Calculate My Carbon Impact
Knowing our carbon footprint is the first step to reducing it. I will calculate my carbon impact and identify lifestyle changes that could reduce the carbon footprint and impacts on the environment. I will share my commitments to lowering my impact on the feed.
Simplicity
Meditate or Create a Moment of Silence
I will meditate or create a moment of silence for 15 minutes each day to reflect on things important to me.
Health
Exercise Daily
Daily movement supports our physical and mental health. I will spend 30 minutes each day exercising in a way that feels good to me, such as walking, running, stretching, or dancing.

REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergyHow is electricity generated where you live? How does it impact the environment, animals, and humans?
Alicia Chuaprasert 10/08/2025 8:38 PMMost of Oregon's energy is generated by hydroelectric plants. Dams are good for the environment in the sense that they don't release greenhouse gases while in use, but they do disrupt hydrological ecosystems and require a ton of resources to construct. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodWhat podcast did you choose and what did you learn on the podcast you listened to?
Alicia Chuaprasert 10/08/2025 8:36 PMI chose a nutritionist's podcast about gut health and I learned that everyone's gut microbiome is different and is greatly influenced by your living environment. For example, if you live on a farm or if you have a pet or not can change the bacteria you have in your gut, which affect your digestion.-

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaterWhat surprised you most about your water footprint, and how did it influence your perspective on water use? What changes can you make to reduce your water consumption, and how will these impact your daily routine?
Alicia Chuaprasert 10/08/2025 8:33 PMI was surprised how much my footprint went up when I entered that I live in Oregon. I think it added around 400 gallons, while southern states like Georgia and Texas added less than 100. Washington and Montana also added over 400 gallons, so I think the PNW's energy mix needs a lot of water to generate power. Personally, if I eat less meat and drive less I can save a lot of water on a daily basis. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNatureWhy are old refrigerant gases so harmful to our environment?
Alicia Chuaprasert 10/08/2025 8:26 PMThey are more harmful to the ozone layer than carbon dioxide by 1000x, so it's really important we dispose of our refrigerators correctly (E-waste organizations, trade-in at fridge stores).
