What are some of the barriers to sharing economies? What is your plan for supporting or creating one in your community?

Barriers include being known and trusted. I met a guy last night while at a bar that runs a tool library, and it was very interesting to hear how they obtain the tools and the services they provide. It was also cool to see other members of the community supporting their efforts. I think the biggest thing is to lend hand to someone with your expertise, you'd be surprised what people need.

That's great that you spent some time learning about what others in your community are doing to support each other.

My biggest emission is having a pet and having a carbon heavy diet.

It's a small thing, but in trying to have a cat as sustainably as possible, I've decided to never buy her cans of cat food that include beef. Since emissions from beef are so much higher than other meats, and she really doesn't care, I've been making sure to only feed her fish and poultry based cat food.

Are you aware of the accessibility of transit in your community? How much more time does it take to get places and are transit nodes adequate for getting around important parts of town? And lastly have considered what impact you can have on this?

I'm in a college town in a rural area of the American midwest. I was pleasantly surprised when I moved here that there is a bus system, but I was much less pleased when I realized a 7 minute drive to work would turn out to be most of an hour by bus! Now I've moved closer to work so I can walk, and I've also started taking the bus to the library, but it's still a shame that the only public transportation option for college students without a car, or anyone else who can't or doesn't want to drive, is a bus system that makes hour-long loops around town. I've brought this up to city staff multiple times, but of course it's a challenging chicken-and-egg situation - they don't want to invest more money in improving the bus system if there aren't "enough" people riding it, but who would want to ride it in the state it's currently in if they had any other option at all?
