  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community
Why is voting important to creating a just, sustainable, and thriving world? In what other ways can you actively participate in important decision-making?

Voting is important because it is critical that all citizens participate in shaping the community, regional and countrywide policies. Your voice does matter and collectively if you want to see change, you have to be a part of the change.

Well said! Individually our voices are small, but collectively they speak volumes!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy
Where in your life do you emit the most carbon? What change are you willing to make in your daily life to reduce this output?

Trying to use the car less, bundling up errands so that I'm not burning fuel as much.

And an added benefit is the time that you save by driving fewer trips.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy
How is electricity generated where you live? How does it impact the environment, animals, and humans?

In VT we use solar power and find that it is essential to shut off power hungry devices. It is surprising how much a phone, a light, a fan uses during the day.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature
Rachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?

    Lisa Doherty 10/17/2025 7:35 AM
Spending too much time indoors doesn't allow for an individual to appreciate the beauty of nature nor get a sense of the changing seasons. Fresh air and a change of scenery do wonders for mental health.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health
How did exercising each day impact your physical or mental well-being? What activity did you enjoy most, and why?

    Lisa Doherty's avatar

Played a round of golf and it was a beautiful day. It helped to reduce stress and I was able to enjoy the outdoors.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste
Reducing your paper mail can reduce mental clutter as well as physical waste -- by reducing what is coming in, you can reduce what is going into the recycling bin too. How does it make you feel? What is the next step you will take to reduce your waste?

I've unsubscribed to a number of retail stores. Although they send emails, they often send their paper catalog too. I've tried to eliminate that excess waste.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health
What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?

    Lisa Doherty's avatar

I used water bottles but use a refillable cup now.
