REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Explore the FeedWho inspired you on the feed?
Joie Grandbois 10/04/2024 7:26 AMMultiple people did! I really liked reading about things people are doing to conserve electricity. There are so many creative ways to live a comfortable life while reducing our electricity usage - really liked how some folks use natural light! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Is Nature on the Ballot? What ballot measure are you interested in following through this election cycle and why?
Joie Grandbois 10/04/2024 7:21 AMI live in Maine and there are two ballot measures I'm interested in. One is a bond to fund research and development of various technologies including renewable energy. The other is for funds that will support the " Design, Development and Maintenance of Trails for Outdoor Recreation and Active Transportation."
Today was the first day I'd looked at what is one the ballot so I definitely need to take sometime to read more into them.
I will also take a look at my local ballot to see if there is anything there about it.
I'm glad this was one of the activities because I often wait until the last minute to read about the ballot measures and this time I'm able to be a lot more thoughtful about it. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Zero-Waste CookingIn North America, up to 65% of food waste happens at the consumer level. Chef Steven Satterfield advocates for using every part of a vegetable. How can you incorporate using an entire vegetable (including the skins, tops, stalks, etc.) during your next meal prep?
Joie Grandbois 10/02/2024 6:55 AMI love this question! I keep a bag in my freezer for veggie ends, skins, pieces, etc. and once it is full I use it to make veggie broth! The broth is always a little bit different every time I do it!-
Lenora Andrews 10/04/2024 10:21 AMJoie I like the prep and saving vegetable ends and pieces to make broth. That definitely helps and prevents waste. Thanks for contributing to a better planet.

Joie Grandbois 10/02/2024 6:50 AMHello everyone! I have been active in environmental activism since I was a kid and I feel very lucky to be able to work in the field of sustainability today. I'm looking forward to this next month and seeing what everyone is doing to support the healing of our planet. Participating in events like this and seeing so many people doing good works are so necessary for my own mental health! Congratulations to everyone for participating in this. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Use Resources for Climate AnxietyIs climate anxiety a new concept for you or something you have been following for some time?
Joie Grandbois 10/02/2024 6:44 AMClimate anxiety is something I've been very aware of for a long time - not just in myself but also in others. Many people I know have a lot of feelings around climate change like grief, anxiety, anger, and so many more. All of these feelings are valid and are a very rational response to the situation. I love how Joanna Macy frames these feelings as your mind/body/heart letting you know something is wrong in the world.
Acknowledging that these feelings are real and valid, and are not something to be pathologized, is such an important first step to learning to live in the world today.
