New to composting? Be sure to check out the action resource links to learn tips and more about it. As you transition from throwing food away to composting, what do you notice about how much you are tossing? How will you use your compost once it is ready?

I used my parents compost today, which is a hot composter. I composted some spent grapes (pomace) from my homebrew and cut down all of my tomato plants. I also pulled some mystery green stuff in a block of ice out of the freezer and threw it in there. They will put the compost on the garden next spring when they turn over the beds.

What did you notice about your habits or routines when limiting your showers to five minutes? What changes — if any — do you think you’ll continue long-term?

I will continue to do this on the long term. This wasn't difficult and made me feel less guilty.
