Food
Try a New Way to Prep
I will try a new method of food preparation, such as canning, pickling, or baking bread.
Food
Buy From a Farmers Market
I will shop at a farmers market or food co-op to support local farmers and businesses. By doing so, I may be able to learn more about who produces the food I eat and goods I buy.
Nature
Learn How to Save the Bees
At least 30% of crops and 90% of flowering plants rely on pollinators to produce fruit. I will spend 30 minutes researching which plants support local native pollinators and plant some in my yard.
Food
Enjoy a Meatless Meal
Producing 1 kg of beef emits as much greenhouse gas as driving 150 miles, meanwhile, 1 kg of veggies or grains leaves a much lighter footprint! This week, I’ll shrink my climate impact by having 2 meatless meals and/or 1 vegan meals each day.
Nature
Listen to A Nature Podcast
I will spend 30 minutes listening to a podcast about nature.
Water
Take 5-Minute Showers
I will save up to 6 gallons (23 L) of water each day by taking 5-minute showers.
Energy
Switch To Cold Water for Laundry
I will switch to washing my clothes in cold water, saving up to 1,600 lbs of CO2 over the course of the next year.
Energy
Heat and Cool Naturally
I will naturally heat and cool my house, office, or dorm room by opening or closing my windows, curtains, and blinds, and by using fans.

REFLECTION QUESTIONNatureHow do pollinators impact your daily life, and what changes can you make to ensure they continue to thrive?
Molly Hagen 10/13/2025 5:04 PMPollinators are, as we know, critical for maintenance of plants and ecosystems in general, and I am excited to find my pollinator plants so that I can support my local bees, butterflies, etc in the area! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNatureWhat podcast did you choose, and what did you learn from it?
Molly Hagen 10/13/2025 5:02 PMOne of the podcasts I listened to was about “pests” and how humans treat animals that “shouldn’t be somewhere” when they simply are existing. It really opened my eyes to some of the language that we tend to use when talking about nature in its natural state. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodHow was your experience intentionally trying to eat less meat?
Molly Hagen 10/13/2025 4:59 PMIt was definitely difficult at first to brainstorm new ways to incorporate protein into meals without meat, but I did enjoy trying new recipes and am excited to keep modifying and learning new ones!
