Madeline's actions
Cultivating Communities
Stay on the Ground
Instead of traveling by plane, I will find an alternative way to accomplish the goals of an upcoming trip (i.e. digital/virtual attendance, vacation without air travel).
Balancing Consumption
Repair a Broken Item
I will repair at least one item that is broken, but is repairable. This might be items like garden tools, sewing machine, small appliances, electronics, clothing, and more.
Nourishing Food
Compost Food Scraps
I will avoid sending up to .69 lbs (.31 kg) of food waste to the landfill per day by composting my food.
Nourishing Food
Weekly Meal Planning
I will reduce food waste, excess carbon and save money by planning my daily and weekly menus so that I only purchase the ingredients needed.
Regenerating Nature
Spend Time Outside
I will replace 20 minute(s) per day typically spent inside and often with electronics with quality time outside walking, exercising, enjoying the sunrise/sunset, gardening, journaling, observing nature, or practicing gratitude for nature.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Madeline Harris 10/26/2022 5:24 AMUsing empty copy paper boxes to fill with clothes to donate to charity. The boxes get used again, and stack up neatly until I have enough boxes for delivery.-
Crystal Tyree 10/26/2022 6:59 AMThis is a GREAT idea! I never thought of using them! They are large enough to hold quite a large amount of clothes too!

Madeline Harris 10/26/2022 5:11 AMI have been enjoying the ecochallenge for a number of years now. Each time I find the experience rewarding... there's always something more one can try to leave a smaller footprint. These challenges make it easy to take some small steps that add up. -
Madeline Harris 10/21/2022 5:12 AMLooking forward to continuing to put the garden to bed for the winter this weekend... it'll feel good to be outside in the forecasted 70 degree temps compared to the temps we have had these past several days. -
Madeline Harris 10/05/2022 4:19 AMOne of the actions I chose was to spend more time outside. Today on the radio I heard that we lose a degree or two every few days starting now. By the end of this ecochallenge it's going to be pretty chilly outside.-
Zabebah Mohamed 10/07/2022 11:00 AMTake advantage of this weekend. We should have some pretty nice weather to spend more time outside.
