I didn't realize about those things either. It's funny the things we do all of the time have an impact on our carbon footprint.

Simplicity
Go for a Daily Walk
I will take a walk each day.
Transportation
Improve a Bus Stop in My Community
I will improve a bus stop in my neighborhood by posting the stop schedule, adding seating or shelter, adding art or flowers, picking up litter, or some other small improvement.
Nature
Learn How to Save the Bees
At least 30% of crops and 90% of flowering plants rely on pollinators to produce fruit. I will spend 30 minutes researching which plants support local native pollinators and plant some in my yard.
Food
Learn More about Food Apartheid
I will spend 30 about food apartheid and find out how I can advocate for healthy and fresh food in my region.
Food
Donate Food in My Community
I will find out what food programs are in my area and donate food and/or other items that they request.
Waste
Repair a Broken Item
I will repair at least one item that is broken, but is repairable. This might be items like garden tools, sewing machine, small appliances, electronics, clothing, and more.
Water
Understand My Water Footprint
Each of us has a water footprint, directly linked to our daily activities as well as the water required in the production of things we use each day. Understanding our water use is important for a healthy planet. I will calculate my water footprint and look for a few ways I can reduce consumption or waste, then share what I learned on the feed.
Energy
Calculate My Digital Carbon Footprint
I will calculate my digital carbon footprint and take steps to reduce my CO2 emissions.
Community
Volunteer During My Local Election
I will contact my local election office to volunteer during the upcoming election.
Health
Exercise Daily
Daily movement supports our physical and mental health. I will spend 45 minutes each day exercising in a way that feels good to me, such as walking, running, stretching, or dancing.

REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergyWhat did you learn about your digital habits that surprised you the most?
Abi Hershenson 10/09/2025 2:12 PMI feel like we often forget that scrolling on our phones or watching tv has an environmental impact, but it greatly does. I was surprised but also understood some of the different ways we can reduce our carbon footprint related to internet such as installing ad-blockers, unsubscribing from mass emails, and clearing up your personal cloud so you don't have 25 versions of the same photo. I often forget how items like that seem so small but can still contribute to a smaller carbon footprint. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicityFresh air and movement are good for our entire being and can help us think more clearly and creatively. How does taking a walk each day affect yourself and/or your work?
Abi Hershenson 10/08/2025 2:49 PMTaking a walk everyday helps me be more productive at work and allows my body to get a reset from sitting all day.
