Health
Go Get a Check Up
Regular health check-ups help prevent problems before they start. I will schedule or attend a medical, dental, or mental health check-up to take care of my well-being.
Take the Pre-Survey
Take the Pre-Event Survey
I’ll take a short pre-survey to share what motivated me to join — and earn 15 points! (If I already took the survey by email, I’ll just mark this action complete to get my points.)

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealthWhat motivated you to schedule or attend your check-up, and how did it make you feel afterward that you completed this action?
Catelyn Jones 10/13/2025 12:40 PMWhat motivated me to schedule my check-up was my mom reminding me that I had to. I also know it’s good for my overall physical health, so that was a big motivation too. I felt good after scheduling my appointment. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicityWhat did you notice in implementing this challenge? Was it hard to choose other activities over screen time? How did you decide to spend your time?
Catelyn Jones 10/13/2025 12:37 PMWhile implementing this challenge, I noticed that I had overall better days (mentally and physically). There were lots of hobbies and new things I’ve wanted to try for a while, so it was not hard for me to choose other activities over screen time. I also don’t actually love spending a lot of time on screens, so it was not hard for me to want to do other things; it’s just been hard for me to find the time (since I’m always on my laptop for school). I decided to spend my time going to the gym, going on walks around my neighborhood, reading, baking new recipes, and spending time with friends. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNatureRachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?
Catelyn Jones 10/13/2025 12:32 PMI agree with what Rachel Carson said. I have always found love and a spiritual connection with the outdoors. Spending time in nature has always helped get me out of a funk and put me in a better overall mood, and that means something to me, where it might not for other people. Cultures that spend most of their time outdoors are most likely more connected to each other on a deeper spiritual level, and that is something that most people in this modern day do not have. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealthHow did exercising each day impact your physical or mental well-being? What activity did you enjoy most, and why?
Catelyn Jones 10/13/2025 12:27 PMExercising each day definitely has a very positive impact on my physical and mental well-being. I feel more energized during the day, which is making school and homework more enjoyable as well. I also tend to be in an overall happier mood when I exercise daily. The two activities I enjoy the most are going to the gym and going on walks around my neighborhood. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergyHow is electricity generated where you live? How does it impact the environment, animals, and humans?
Catelyn Jones 10/13/2025 12:20 PMIn Corvallis, electricity is generated through a combination of local renewable sources like solar, landfill gas, and cogeneration at Oregon State University, and by purchasing electricity from the regional grid, which is primarily a mix of hydroelectric, natural gas, and other renewable sources. Electricity generation impacts the environment, animals, and humans from air and water pollution caused by fossil fuels to land use changes and potential greenhouse gas emissions from renewable resources.
