Nourishing Food
Watch a Documentary about Food Sovereignty
I will watch 1 documentary(ies) about food sovereignty: the right of local peoples to control their own food systems including markets, ecological resources, food cultures and production methods.
Cultivating Communities

Each day, I will go on a plog or plalk for minute(s) and collect items of litter.

Alycia Kearns 10/16/2022 12:37 PMOn Saturday, 10/15, I volunteered with the City of Tigard's first annual El Tigre Fest. I assigned myself to litter/trash duty and walked on and off all day picking up litter around the park where the festival was held. Since it was a windy day, it helped prevent napkins and other debris from flying into the neighboring nature areas and paths. It was a great day (a little warm) full of community, music, and great food and activities. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBalancing Consumption Repair a Broken ItemWhat did you fix and how did it go? Share a few pics if you can!
Alycia Kearns 10/11/2022 1:03 PMIt's still not done, but I am working on fixing a zipper on my lunch bag that's been broken for two years. I have still been using the lunch bag since it's still useable, but I'd love to get this thing fixed! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnacting Equity Listen to Equity & Justice PodcastsWhat podcast did you choose and what did you learn on the podcast you listened to?
Alycia Kearns 10/05/2022 12:54 PMI listened to part of an episode from October 2021 (Believing Her) of Intersectional Matters! with Kimberlé Crenshaw about Anita Hill and Clarence Thomas. The beginning of the episode sets the scene for how complex and frustrating Anita Hill's experience was testifying to the Senate Judiciary Committee about how he sexually harassed her while she worked for him. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCultivating Communities Collect Litter on a Plog / PlalkWhat was your experience like plogging, or engaging in another way to collect litter while being outside? Was there any item you collected that was unusual that you found?
Alycia Kearns 10/05/2022 12:49 PMMy neighborhood is near a few busy streets, so I walked and found random bits: to-go cup lids, cigarette butts, miscellaneous scraps of paper. I've done this before and do prefer to go early in the day to avoid traffic.
