REFLECTION QUESTIONEnacting Equity Watch a Documentary about Racial InjusticeWhat did you learn about racial injustice in the documentary(ies) you watched? How does what you learned connect to your understanding of sustainability?
Kendra Kent 10/26/2022 6:31 PMOne documentary I watched talked a lot about intersectionality and how everything is connected and how race is connected to poverty which is connected to education levels which is connected to a bunch of other things. I think we can apply this to sustainability too. Sometimes it feels like only the less fortunate or the younger generations care about the planet and I think we need to look into why these are connected when addressing climate change. -
Kendra Kent 10/26/2022 1:38 PMI can't wait to do this again next year and continue being sustainable until then. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNourishing Food Watch a Documentary about Food SovereigntyHow does food sovereignty address the complex transition from localized food systems to modern global food systems?
Kendra Kent 10/26/2022 11:38 AMIt means us as the consumers and the people who produce our food will be making the laws and policies on said food which causes corporations to lose their power and it means they no longer can up prices or cause impoverish areas to not have access to affordable produce. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBalancing Consumption Calculate My Carbon FootprintWhat is one way you will reduce your carbon impact? What is a practice you already have that helps you reduce your carbon impact?
Kendra Kent 10/26/2022 11:34 AMA way I can reduce my carbon footprint is to turn off lights when I'm not in a room and to unplug appliances when I'm not using them. A practice I already do is reducing my single use plastics.-
Mary Hanks 10/26/2022 11:52 AMUntil I did this challenge, it didn't occur to me to unplug the coffeemaker that I only use two or three times a week. Working the Ecochallenge has really changed the way I look at things.

Kendra Kent 10/25/2022 7:59 AMToday I woke up and realized this challenge will be ending tomorrow and I hope everyone continues to implement these sustainable practices into their daily lives. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBalancing Consumption Repair a Broken ItemWhat did you fix and how did it go? Share a few pics if you can!
Kendra Kent 10/25/2022 7:56 AMI repaired a flannel I had that had a large hole in it. I thrifted this shirt so I think it came with the hole but I was able to sew it instead of throwing it away. It went well, I haven't sewn in years but it looks good. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONRegenerating Nature Advocate for Forest ProtectionHigher standards of living are very often dependent on moving our environmental costs elsewhere. What are some specific ways the environmental impacts of your own lifestyle might be shifted elsewhere?
Kendra Kent 10/25/2022 7:52 AMSome specific ways I can make substitutes to help the environment are if I use paper products instead of plastic or cut out plastic straws entirely. I can also limit my technology use and make sure to use environmentally friendly lightbulbs and turn off my lights when I don't need them on. -
Kendra Kent 10/24/2022 8:01 AMI did not participate in the ecochallenge last semester because I thought it would be too hard and take too much time out of my day to be sustainable but after doing it this year I will be recommending it to others.
