REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergyHow does improving your home's energy efficiency help you better live out your values?
Jennifer Klotz 10/31/2025 5:47 PMIt causes me to walk the walk, which we anyone should do who professes actions. I feel good about knowing it will help me and the planet, especially when it doesn't take long to do! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNatureIs climate anxiety a new concept for you or something you have been following for some time?
Jennifer Klotz 10/29/2025 6:30 PM- Earth Advocate 📣
I’ve been aware of it as a concept for a few years now, but have experienced it longer than that. I’m terrified for our planet basically. When I came across it, I decided to incorporate a therapy session into the teen program I had at the time. We literally sat in a circle and I would use a prompt from my list if needed to create discussion. It was eye opening to think some may have spent their entire lives in a state of anxiety over climate change. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealthHow are war and conflict connected to environmental degradation and displacement? What role do justice and peace play in building a sustainable future?
Jennifer Klotz 10/28/2025 6:36 PM- Earth Advocate 📣
I came across this article which should’ve been a link in the Learn More tab for the specific action. A number of issues listed were expected to see but my impression came from the shear number of them. It’s a long list! Yet one more reason to keep the peace.

REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodWhy do you donate food? How does it connect to your values?
Jennifer Klotz 10/15/2025 3:05 PM- Earth Advocate 📣
Simply put, because I can. I enjoy shopping for items and often change it up (even though I'm the only one who knows that lol). I put a lot of thinking into it and try to get a range of items. While I don't have children myself, I try to remember to include some of those items too! I can't imagine not having enough, or good, food to eat, whether alone or in a family. It's a terrible thought, and something no one should experience. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergyEquitable access, environmental justice and creating employment opportunities are just a few advantages of low-income solar programs. Can you think of other benefits that could come from initiatives like this? Which advantages of low-income solar do you find the most compelling?
Jennifer Klotz 10/15/2025 3:02 PM- Earth Advocate 📣
I think building community could be an advantage. Seeing that groups can volunteer to install these projects means local people help local people. Neighbors will also connect in some way or another, so low-income solar brings people together! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteWhat concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.
Jennifer Klotz 10/13/2025 12:20 PM- Earth Advocate 📣
Oh gosh, not enough space for this answer! SO many problems sadly, but I guess my biggest concern applies to all of them- lack of care. Some do certainly, but the number of people we need to care to make the changes necessary is simply too low. This ranges from leaders to everyday citizens. Not enough care. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteOur ability to recycle certain things ebbs and flows based upon many factors, including market demand for recyclables. Luckily there are places that accept uncommon things to recycle or dispose of in a less harmful way. What did you find when looking for places to recycle items that can't be recycled in your curbside bin?
Jennifer Klotz 10/08/2025 2:46 PM- Earth Advocate 📣
The resources in the Learn More section didn't help much at all. Terracycle has been a dead end every time I look. "Sign up and join waitlist" for everything, ergo, nothing to act on now. Clearly, there is demand if all the programs are full, so I'm surprised another company hasn't moved onto the scene or Terracycle hasn't had the chance to grow to manage it better.
I knew of, and used, the Recyclopedia site for items that fall into this category but was hoping to discover another resource. No luck. At least I have that though!
