  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature
How can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place -- your deep knowledge of and appreciation for your surroundings?

Spending time outdoors can enhance your sense of place because it can boost your mood. Going outdoors can help find a sense of place because whenever I need a mental health break, I go to a park or hiking trail to practice my mindfulness.

What motivated you to schedule or attend your check-up, and how did it make you feel afterward that you completed this action?

After going to a check-up, I felt kind of relieved, even though there was nothing wrong; It was just a relief on stuff that I would not have known.

What podcast did you choose and what did you learn on the podcast you listened to?

I didn't listen to a podcast, but watched a documentary, The Alabama Solution, about the prison system in Alabama. I learned that in Solitary confinement, one guy was in there for 5 years, and the living situation was bad. Sleeping on floors, unpaid labor, swat team beat prisoners, flooding in their rooms, people leaving in body bags.

    Simplicity
How is creativity a necessary ingredient for practicing simplicity?

Creativity is necessary because if a product is too expensive to buy, you can find a way to do it yourself.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
In North America, up to 65% of food waste happens at the consumer level. Chef Steven Satterfield advocates for using every part of a vegetable. How can you incorporate using an entire vegetable (including the skins, tops, stalks, etc.) during your next meal prep?

The way you can use an entire vegetable is if you can find a place to compost and put the parts that are not used in cooking.

I like to simmer those parts for broth before I compost them.
