Choose LED Bulbs

I will replace 2 incandescent lightbulbs with Energy Star-certified LED bulbs, saving up to $14 per fixture per year.

Spend Time Outside

I will replace 30 minutes each day typically spent inside (computer time, watching television, etc.) with quality time outside.

Food

Enjoy a Meatless Meal

Producing 1 kg of beef emits as much greenhouse gas as driving 150 miles, meanwhile, 1 kg of veggies or grains leaves a much lighter footprint! This week, I’ll shrink my climate impact by having 1 meatless meals and/or 1 vegan meals each day.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy
Switching out your lightbulbs is an excellent first step toward energy efficiency! In what other ways can you exercise your civic duty to protect the environment and reduce carbon emissions?

I can also reduce my carbon emissions by using less electric appliances around the house.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature
Rachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?

I think that rings true for me. Being outdoors always gives me a sense of joy, especially when being trapped inside all day working. I feel like a culture that spends most of its time indoors might not fully appreciate the value of the outdoors and our natural resources.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health
Consider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What changes did you make to improve your sleep, and how did they affect your day?

I would like to increase the amount of sleep I get and keep the hours on a set schedule. So far I have been accomplishing this by going to bed and waking up at the same time everyday. This makes me feel more alert and ready for the day.

🌿 That’s awesome! Keeping a consistent sleep schedule really makes a difference — it’s amazing how much more energy and focus we gain when we give our body that rhythm. Thanks for sharing your progress, it inspires others in our communities to build healthier habits too! 💪✨

    Food
How was your experience intentionally trying to eat less meat?

I found it very easy to accomplish. I don't think I would do well if I had to get rid of all animal products, but just removing meat products has been very doable
