Take pride in your eco-conscious choices and flaunt the fact that your clothes are second hand and/or re-purposed. The more we all make this a socially acceptable and even celebrated practice, the more people will feel comfortable doing so.

Balancing Consumption
Personal Waste Audit
Each day, I will collect, track, or take a picture of all of my unrecyclable, non-compostable trash to know how much I send to the landfill.
Nourishing Food
Buy into more CSAs to source more of foods we eat regularly.
We already purchase some of our food from local fishers, farmers and growers, but still end up buying the bulk of our groceries from national sources. With more commitment and planning we could close that gap, reduce our carbon footprint, support local markets, and enjoy fresher, more humanely and sustainably produced foods.
Balancing Consumption
What is Sustainable Fashion?
I will spend 10 minutes learning about sustainable fashion and adopt at least one sustainable fashion practice.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONBalancing Consumption What is Sustainable Fashion? How can you express your personality, creativity, and values in ways that don't require fast fashion or buying more clothes and accessories?
Megan McCoy 10/11/2022 10:22 AMGet creative, and wherever your life allows, be eclectic! Shop second hand, and keep an eye out for timeless pieces and quality materials like silk, linen, cotton and wool. (These materials can be incorporated into housewares like curtains, table clothes, napkins and quilts if they no longer serve their original purpose. Not so easy with synthetics which usually are not truly machine washable.)
