Partly I think at the end of the day my brain needs this as a time to just slow down and reflect. But I need to find a way to do that while I'm not wasting water. This is an area for me to try and improve every day.

Matthew's actions
Simplicity
Go for a Daily Walk
I will take a walk each day.
Take the Pre-Survey
Take the Pre-Event Survey
I’ll take a short pre-survey to share what motivated me to join — and earn 15 points! (If I already took the survey by email, I’ll just mark this action complete to get my points.)
Health
Prioritize Getting Enough Sleep
Good sleep is essential for a healthy body and mind. I will prioritize getting 30 hours of quality sleep each night and develop a bedtime routine that supports rest and relaxation.
Energy
Heat and Cool Naturally
I will naturally heat and cool my house, office, or dorm room by opening or closing my windows, curtains, and blinds, and by using fans.
Transportation
Commute By Bike
I will commute by bike 4 miles each day and avoid sending CO2 into Earth's atmosphere.
Water
Take 5-Minute Showers
I will save up to 6 gallons (23 L) of water each day by taking 5-minute showers.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaterWhat did you notice about your habits or routines when limiting your showers to five minutes? What changes — if any — do you think you’ll continue long-term?
Matthew Ragusa 10/31/2025 4:22 PMI didn't realize how hard this would be. I had more times I failed at this, despite thinking I was going to try hopping into the shower that day, than successes.

REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportationHow do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience differ while walking, riding transit, biking, or driving?
Matthew Ragusa 10/31/2025 4:16 PMI didn't realize how quickly these miles add up. I've been riding the bike to school a lot the last about 3 years, but I'm getting better about being consistent. 73 miles in a month this month I didn't realize how that adds up over time. I've driven to school probably less than 10 times so far this year.
