What did you notice in implementing this challenge? Was it hard to choose other activities over screen time? How did you decide to spend your time?

I can spend hours without my phone, but I have a bad habit of constantly checking it for emails and other texts. I've been trying to read more, so I've been spending my time reading and journaling.

I started reading more as well to reduce screentime. I forgot how much I love the feeling of a book in my hands.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature
How well do you know the area you live in? In what ways is a deep knowledge of your surroundings -- known as a 'sense of place' -- important to you?

I went to the Tyron Creek Park, which was 15 minutes from where I live. I didn't know we had many parks in Portland, since I usually just stay within the city. It was a nice change of scenery, and the wind felt nice. I met up with a group of volunteers, and we pulled out invasive blackberries. It was tiring, but it felt very rewarding at the end.
