Calculate My Carbon Impact
Knowing our carbon footprint is the first step to reducing it. I will calculate my carbon impact and identify lifestyle changes that could reduce the carbon footprint and impacts on the environment. I will share my commitments to lowering my impact on the feed.

I will sign up for my utility company's clean/renewable energy option.

Individual actions are important, but people and organizations working together can make a real impact. I will share a carbon calculator with a friend and invite them to calculate the carbon footprint of their household.
Health
Audit Toxic Products in my Home
Many common products contain harmful chemicals. I will spend 60 minutes researching chemicals found in products I use, and I will make a list of products I'd like to replace with safer options.
Water
Understand My Water Footprint
Each of us has a water footprint, directly linked to our daily activities as well as the water required in the production of things we use each day. Understanding our water use is important for a healthy planet. I will calculate my water footprint and look for a few ways I can reduce consumption or waste, then share what I learned on the feed.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaterTrace the water that flows down the drain from your house to the largest body of water nearby. What is the route it takes?
Danielle Sampson 10/20/2025 5:44 PMWe started collecting for our horse's water tanks. We get plenty of rain to collect and then utilize the water in our troughs. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportationA round-trip flight from New York City to Los Angeles emits just over 1.5 tons of CO2—per person. That’s a lot of carbon! What can you do to reduce the number of flights you take per year?
Danielle Sampson 10/07/2025 7:45 PMI booked flights for myself and my fiancé next year this month and chose to pay for the Co2 offset since we are traveling so far - we usually travel by car if we are going out of town. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergyWhat inspires you to act on sustainable energy and other energy issues?
Danielle Sampson 10/07/2025 7:44 PMThis was on the docket already but it was finally completed as well as a new roof that is meant to insulate better - keeping the house cooler and warmer at the same time during the summer and winter months. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicityHow can you prevent yourself from accumulating more things in the future?
Danielle Sampson 10/07/2025 7:37 PMWent through our bedroom and decluttered my bedroom and decluttered what we didn't need. What we didn't need was donated so that someone else can get use out of it and not end up in a landfill when it is still good items. We sold a few items as well that were really good things. -
Danielle Sampson 10/05/2025 8:34 AMSo far it is going good, I realized that I had not checked in and arked though for the daily items in the previous days, so I know that my score would be even higher but I have set a reminder now on my phone to complete my daily activities.
