Nicolle's actions
Transportation
Car Share
I will sign up for a car-sharing service, or organize car sharing with my neighbors, to cut down on the number of vehicles on the road.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 2 plastic straws out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Transportation
Drive Less
I will cut my car trip mileage by only taking necessary trips.
Waste
Advocate For More Food Packaging Options
I will advocate for alternatives to single-use packaging at local grocery stores, markets, at work, or on campus to reduce pollution in the environment and in local communities.
Food
Buy From a Farmers Market
I will shop at a farmers market or food co-op to support local farmers and businesses. By doing so, I may be able to learn more about who produces the food I eat and goods I buy.
Health
Know My Health
I will get my Core Four Biometrics tests (blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar and BMI).
Health
Support Pollution Reduction
I will spend at least 15 minutes learning about water and air quality issues in my area, how they are impacting human and environmental health, and how I can help.
Water
5-Minute Showers
I will save up to 6 gallons (23 L) of water each day by taking 5-minute showers.
Health
Healthy Sleep
Effectively working for sustainability requires self care! I will commit to getting 30 more minute(s) of sleep each night to achieve at least 7 hours per night.
Energy
Turn It Off
I will keep lights, electronics, and appliances turned off when not using them.
Participant Feed

Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Drive LessHow has your access to various kinds of transportation throughout your life influenced your current attitudes about transportation and your transportation behavior?
Nicolle Sanderson 10/08/2024 1:20 PMgrew up where we have to many cars and too much traffic with just one driver going somewhere. Seems a waste, my family carpools as much as possible. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Skip the StrawHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?
-
Anna Marie Angeles 10/04/2024 2:07 PMThat’s a great habit! Reusable straws are such a simple yet effective way to reduce plastic waste. Plus, they come in so many fun designs and materials like stainless steel, bamboo, and silicone!!! 🌍

REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Car ShareTake a moment to think of places you frequent often (work, grocery store, school, natural areas). Could you choose one or two days a week to schedule driving with a friend, neighbor or co-worker to these places?
Nicolle Sanderson 10/04/2024 12:13 PMMy Co-worker and I carpool to work daily, good for the environment and the soul.
