Loving all of the positivity happening here! It's been amazing to see so many people fighting for the change that we all want to see in our society!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Regenerating Nature Use Resources for Climate Anxiety
Is climate anxiety a new concept for you or something you have been following for sometime?

    Noelle Schwartz's avatar
    Noelle Schwartz 10/14/2022 10:02 AM
I've been following climate anxiety for a long time. It is something that I've struggled with myself from a young age after watching the movie 2012 for the first time.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Enacting Equity Shop at BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, Disabled, & Women-Led Businesses!
In your community, how can you work to address systemic racism, sexism, ableism and additional forms of exclusion in the businesses?

    Noelle Schwartz's avatar
    Noelle Schwartz 10/14/2022 10:00 AM
Supporting local small business instead of heading to chain stores for the same items. Having more 'takeovers' of social media to allow a small business the opportunity of free and positive publicity.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Enacting Equity Research Indigenous & First Nations Communities
Indigenous speaker and activist Winona LaDuke says that, “most indigenous ceremonies, if you look to their essence, are about the restoration of balance — they are a reaffirmation of our relationship to creation. That is our intent: to restore, and then to retain balance and honor our part in creation.” Why is balance important to sustainability? If you identify with or are a member of an indigenous community, how does your community practice sustainability?

    Noelle Schwartz 10/14/2022 9:58 AM
Balance is so important to sustainability because without it, are we truly being sustainable? If everybody in question doesn't have the same resources and same access, how can we become a sustainable society?
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Enacting Equity Learn About Trans, Femme, and Nonbinary Experiences
How is equality for trans, femme, and nonbinary people important to a just and sustainable society?

    Noelle Schwartz's avatar
    Noelle Schwartz 10/14/2022 9:56 AM
The point of a just and sustainable society is allowing the voices of ALL to be heard. Whether that's QTBIPOC folks or the lower and middle classes, everyone's voices must be heard if sustainability and justice are on the table.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Cultivating Communities Join A Neighborhood Group
How can your community support inclusive decision making?

    Noelle Schwartz's avatar
    Noelle Schwartz 10/14/2022 9:54 AM
Introducing and allowing for diverse members of the community to have a say in decision making, or even allowing for open forums before decision making to hear out those diverse and marginalized groups. Having open ears, minds, and hearts.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Regenerating Nature Calculate My Water Footprint
What is one way you will reduce your water use? What is a practice you already have that helps you reduce your water use?

    Noelle Schwartz's avatar
    Noelle Schwartz 10/14/2022 9:43 AM
I plan on taking into account the amount of water used when washing dishes as I already take shorter showers and make sure to turn the water off when brushing my teeth (both really easy ways to reduce water use).
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Regenerating Nature Support Local Pollinators
Why is it important to take care of pollinators? Do you have a favorite pollinator?

    Noelle Schwartz's avatar
    Noelle Schwartz 10/14/2022 9:42 AM
My favorite pollinators are the butterflies and moths. I just love all the different wing and thorax patterns. These organisms are extremely important not only to the wild food web but also to our own food sources.

Noelle, I'm so happy watching the butterflies in the roses and the bees in the sage in my yard. I keep trying to love the wasps, but it isn't working.  :)  Well, I'll keep trying. I know they're doing their job.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Nourishing Food What is My Food Supply Chain?
What was the most surprising part of your food supply chain? Are there any problem areas that you are able to fix?

    Noelle Schwartz's avatar
    Noelle Schwartz 10/14/2022 9:40 AM
I am a vegetarian and finding out how oat and almond milk were made was quite interesting. I think that I am going to stop using Almond milk for the time being until I can find a brand that grows the plant sustainably.
