REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Repair a Broken ItemWhat did you fix and how did it go? Share a few pics if you can!
Courtney Stoner 10/29/2024 7:01 AMI fixed a shirt and sweatshirt with holes! I also have a giant pile of clothes that needs repairs or alterations. Knowing how to sew is super useful, mending clothes is a great way to extend the life of well-loved clothes. The best way to wear fashion sustainably is to keep wearing what you have!-
Holly Windom 10/31/2024 8:23 AMHi Courtney: This is a great way to length the life of our favorite items. I'm a decal queen. I love that here in MI "Joann Fabris, & Hobby Lobby " has a huge selection. I place them by sewing or ironing on jackets, pants & tops. Finding the time for another project is not easy. I do it while watching TV. Good Luck to your success of your projects.

REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Sign Up to VoteWhy is voting important to creating a just, sustainable, and thriving world? In what other ways can you actively participate in important decision-making?
Courtney Stoner 10/28/2024 1:40 PMVoting is an important way to make sure your voice is heard. It's important to not just "do your research" but be educated on who you are voting for, how they align with your own values, and how they will help move the country, your state, your county, and your city forward. Learning about all the candidates on the ballot, in both primaries and general elections, and then voting is an effective way to make the changes you want to see in your community. Your governor, city council, or county board has the most effect on your local community, so it's important to educate yourself on their platforms. There are many other ways to engage in important civic decision-making, such as public hearings, protest, or calling or writing your local politicians.-
Holly Windom 10/28/2024 1:48 PMThank you for reminding others to care about voting! I already voted!

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Exercise DailyHow can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?
Courtney Stoner 10/04/2024 12:40 PMI biked to yoga instead of driving! Better for air quality, cardiovascular health, and getting outside.-
Anna Marie Angeles 10/04/2024 2:06 PMThat’s fantastic! 🚴♀️ Not only are you reducing your carbon footprint, but you’re also boosting your health and enjoying the outdoors. It’s a win-win-win situation!

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?
Courtney Stoner 10/03/2024 6:34 AMMeat is much more expensive than plant-based proteins (lentils, soy, beans, etc). It takes a lot of resources to produce meat - in the US, most of the soy grown domestically goes towards livestock feed. Meat production is also incredibly water intensive. Worldwide, valuable and biodiverse forests are cut and burned to make room for livestock grazing. The level of meat consumption by populations in the global west is unsustainable.-
Lenora Andrews 10/03/2024 6:55 AMCourtney that is a good observation that you made. Americans as a whole could do a better job at reducing meat consumption. There are so many delicious nonmeat options and recipes available to help. Even reducing consumption of meat for at least one meal per day will lead to 5-7 days of having meatless meals.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWater Calculate My Water FootprintHow does your view on water consumption change after completing this action?
Courtney Stoner 10/02/2024 9:50 AMI was not surprised that my indoor water use was so low, due to living in an apartment and having newer efficient appliances. I knew diet-related water would be high, but not as high as it was calculated! Over 1,000 gallons of water per day is still really high.
