Teresa's actions
Waste
Recycle used plant pots
I love gardening and during the summer have collected several plastic plant pots so will take them back to the garden centre and recycle them.
Nature
Spend Time Outside
I will replace 30 minutes each day typically spent inside (computer time, watching television, etc.) with quality time outside.
Simplicity
Eat Mindfully
I will eat all of my meals without distractions, e.g., phone, computer, TV, or newspaper.
Health
Reduce Refined Sugar
I will adopt a diet free of refined sugars, which eliminates sweetened beverages, candy, and processed foods.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Eat MindfullyMindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How do your eating experiences differ when practicing mindfulness?
Teresa Banks 10/29/2024 4:25 AMDefinitely going to incorporate intermittent fasting and eat between an 8 hour window. Perhaps not every day but at least 2 to 3 days per week.-
Hassnain Khan 10/29/2024 4:51 AMIntermittent fasting can be such a powerful way to connect with mindful eating—it really helps you focus on nourishing yourself within a set window. Even a few days a week can make a big difference in feeling more present and balanced with food. Excited to hear how it goes for you!

Teresa Banks 10/29/2024 4:23 AMI did something on Sunday morning around 7.30am, I actually had a very quick dip in very cold waters off the Kent coast! I have never done that before, not at this time of the year. It was quite an experience! The very cold sand below my feet was still damp from the rain the night before. I know cold water swimming is good for you and thankfully the sun was shinning and around 10 degrees. Would I do it again? Yes, I think I would.-
Jeanne Poirier 10/29/2024 8:33 AMKudos to stretch yourself in a completely new way!

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Reduce Refined SugarBefore you started this challenge, did you think you were 'addicted' to sugar? How do you feel now?
Teresa Banks 10/24/2024 8:08 AMI really tried to limit refined sugar today (had been doing quite well) but slipped and ate a miniature milky way and protein bar and then felt guilty! So will plan and burn off a few calories to compensate the sugar damage.-
Anan Srivilai 10/24/2024 8:52 AMI wouldn't say I am addicted to sugar by I do tend to have a nice treat after dinner sometimes when I know I shouldn't. A thing I try to do is just not buy anything with lots of sugar so I don't have them at hand reach.

REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Spend Time OutsideRachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?
Teresa Banks 10/24/2024 8:03 AMOn sunny autumn days when it would be nice to get out for a walk, it's good to force yourself to get out for a walk in fresh air even for 15 minutes....very worthwhile! -
Teresa Banks 10/18/2024 4:36 AMI smashed my time spent outside this week while volunteering at a gardening event. It was so nice to spend time outside getting to know other work colleagues while clearing weeds from a local park. We even came across a family of frogs which we were mindful of their habitat so tried not to disrupt them too much.-
Kerry Keck 10/18/2024 3:32 PMAmphibians, like frogs, can be a real indicator of the health of an environment. They are so sensitive to the presence of harmful chemicals. It is a wonderful sign that you found them living in your local park. 🐸
