REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityWhat was it like to actively listen to someone? How did both people and the conversations benefit from active listening?
Maddox Mell 10/20/2025 2:08 PMActive listening is something that I do not typically take into consideration in my day to day life. Making a conscious effort to engage in conversation allowed me to get more out of conversation. I feel like both people involved are able to actually get something out of the conversation and leave feeling like they have a more complete understanding or perspective of the topic. I have found that little aspects of conversation I struggle with, such as maintaining eye contact with somebody. But when making an effort to actively listen I do not fell the same awkwardness that I might usually experience. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaterWhat did you notice about your habits or routines when limiting your showers to five minutes? What changes — if any — do you think you’ll continue long-term?
Maddox Mell 10/20/2025 8:51 AMAs a guy, taking a 5 minute shower is not all that difficult when just trying to get clean. However part of the reason I like showers is the warm water and water pressure. A way that I made this activity more manageable was to turn the temperature way down. While this made showering much less enjoyable, it made showering in 5 minutes or less much easier. Moving forward I think I am going to go back to taking warm showers but just make sure I am not spending too long in the warm water and just focusing on getting clean.-

I generally take about 5 minute showers if possible to conserve on water. By doing so, I save on water waste and I feel I have a little more time to do other things I may need to do before leaving/ or doing things around the house.

REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportationHow do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience differ while walking, riding transit, biking, or driving?
Maddox Mell 10/13/2025 2:28 PMThe method of transportation does have an impact in the way you engage with the community. When I am biking more often I have more opportunities to stop and talk to people than i would if i drove my car. If i drive i often times find myself isolating away from others and spending more time in my thoughts rather than engaging in social interactions. Additionally there are things like event flyers that get put up on streetpoles around downtown and near campus and if you were always driving your car you would always miss out on these community events. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealthHow did exercising each day impact your physical or mental well-being? What activity did you enjoy most, and why?
Maddox Mell 10/13/2025 2:24 PMExercising daily has huge benefits on my mental and physical well-being. Rather than feeling like not getting out of bed in the morning i wake up excited to go and move and breath heavy. Exercise sets me up to feel ready to tackle the rest of the dauy. My favorite activity to get in exercise is to go rock climbing, It is a fun combination of using my problem solving skills as well as strength and will to stay on the wall and get in a good workout! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergyWhat did you learn about your digital habits that surprised you the most?
Maddox Mell 10/13/2025 2:21 PMOne of the most surprising things I learned about digital habits that can help to cut back on your digital related footprint is that hard storage like flash drives and hard drives are more efficient storage methods than the cloud. I did not associate the cloud as something that would use energy or impact your carbon footprint. Additionally making the choice to download videos or media rather than streaming can also be a more efficient use of energy. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergyWhat do you plan to do with the money you save from making more energy efficient choices?
Maddox Mell 10/13/2025 2:12 PMWith the money I save from making energy efficient choices I plan to save up money to go on an outdoor hiking and rock climbing trip.
