Donelda's actions

Nourishing Food

Harvesting

I have a garden and two unheated greenhouses so each day I plan meals around what needs to be harvested. My goal is to eliminate packaging and the energy used to transport produce and to eat food grown in healthy soil. I choose this action because I love the challenge of growing as much food as possible in an urban setting.

COMPLETED 1
DAILY ACTION

Nourishing Food

Make Zero-Waste Meals

I will cook 3 meal(s) with zero-waste each day.

COMPLETED 1
DAILY ACTION

Regenerating Nature

Hang to dry

I hang my clothes to dry to save energy, to prevent microfibers from entering the environment through the dryer vent, to increase the life of my clothes, to use the sun to naturally bleach. and give my laundry a natural fresh scent. This is a recurring but not a daily action, 2 - 3 loads weekly.

I took public transit to an appointment today, then walked to the bank, took transit home and did not buy anything.

Today I walked to the mall where I returned a reusable glass milk bottle and was reimbursed the $1.25 deposit.  I then walked to the public library and picked up the two books that were on hold for me; 'Saving Us, A climate scientist's case for Hope and Healing in a divided world' by Katharine Hayhoe, and 'Animal, Vegetable, Miracle' by Barbara Kingsolver. On my return walk I picked up plastic beverage can rings which I cut apart and put in the recycling bin.

I joined the challenge to share ways to consume less.  I feel that consumerism is a huge contributor to climate issues.
