It was fun to see how small day to day task can add up and lead to a lot of productive eco changes! Also very motivating to try and hit all your goals. I'm going to keep trying to buy locally, keep my plastics consumption down and keep finding unique ways to keep my footprint down.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste
Reducing your paper mail can reduce mental clutter as well as physical waste -- by reducing what is coming in, you can reduce what is going into the recycling bin too. How does it make you feel? What is the next step you will take to reduce your waste?

I have gone to all paper less but I still get junk mail all the time from advertisers and I find it very wasteful and annoying. The steps i have been taking is sending these corporations emails about how wasteful and unnecessary they are. But I'm not convinced my voice alone will make a difference ! So lets all start emailing these companies and let them know that we don't need their junk mail. They're wasting their own money and finite resources. They can advertise through social media instead.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health
How are war and conflict connected to environmental degradation and displacement? What role do justice and peace play in building a sustainable future?

    Ray Taylor's avatar
    Ray Taylor 10/23/2025 4:00 PM
Most wars are from more developed countries and then it causes people in lower developed areas to become displaced at no fault of their own but by these greedy wars. And then when they seek asylum no one will help them. But it's our responsibility if we destabilize their homeland. What else can they do? We all need to come together to solve these issues for all these refugees. All nations need to come together for at least this one goal.

It's heartbreaking to watch the devastation that's resulted from the current conflicts across the globe. Military operations contaminate air, water, and soil with heavy metals, debris from munitions, and chemical runoff from damaged buildings. Ray, I hope your vision of nations uniting to rectify the damage comes to pass!

I needed new clothing so I went to a bunch of used clothing stores and found some amazing clothing at a great cost. Helps to not contribute to landfills and fast fashion.

I love the variety that thrift stores have as well. Never know what you might find.

I've been trying to replace all the plastic I buy for daily items such as toothpaste, bathroom soaps etc. Echo sheets for laundry is good, I've found a deodorant that comes in a cardboard, toothpaste in glass bottles, bars of soap and echo sheets for laundry. Does anyone with curly hair have any recommendations for shampoo and curling products that don't come in plastics? That seems to be where I'm starting to struggle to replace.

I stated using those echo sheets for laundry to cut down on plastic and they're awesome!

The echo sheets clean just fine. But they don't really have a smell. So I'm hoping they can add some organic smells to them eventually.

I as well have a subscription to the eco sheets. It helps me with storage space as well as helping the environment. Win win...

I have seen those in the store. Have thought about trying them, but was not sure if they are as effective as the others?

    Food
Why do you donate food? How does it connect to your values?

    Ray Taylor's avatar
    Ray Taylor 10/19/2025 10:55 PM
Because I live alone and I end up wasting a lot of food. So it's best to donate it

I'm excited to see the progress on all these little things we do everyday. Even just lowering your meat intake will make a major difference everyday and overtime the more people that participate. In order to reach our goals on a globally scale then everyone needs to be involved. Keep educating, sharing awareness and contacting your senators about pushing laws to make corporations change to eco friendly packaging.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
How does food sovereignty address the complex transition from localized food systems to modern global food systems?

    Ray Taylor's avatar
    Ray Taylor 10/17/2025 10:16 PM
    • Food sovereignty makes access to healthy food a priority and help people to have more control on where our food comes. So hopefully it will lead to having smaller farms. But it seems to be going the other directions. Food sovereignty puts community and smaller farms first.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste
What concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.

I wasn't able to change any minds. But I was able to find a place that will let you take in containers to refill soap and shampoos. We need more refill places because a lot of corporations wont do anything until we force them to.
