Rene's actions
Regenerating Nature
Spend Time Outside
I will replace 20 minute(s) per day typically spent inside and often with electronics with quality time outside walking, exercising, enjoying the sunrise/sunset, gardening, journaling, observing nature, or practicing gratitude for nature.
Nourishing Food
Forest-Friendly Foods
I will spend 15 minutes learning about palm oil, coffee, cocoa, and other products known to contribute to deforestation, and replace or remove them.
Regenerating Nature
Complete an Energy Audit
I will complete an online energy audit of my home, work, or other shared space to identify the next steps for saving energy.
Regenerating Nature
Support Local Pollinators
At least 30% of crops and 90% of flowering plants rely on pollinators to produce fruit. I will spend 30 minutes researching which plants support local pollinators and plant a few in my area.
Regenerating Nature
Take Shorter Showers
I will save up to 20 gallons (75 L) of water each day by taking 5-minute or less showers. Tip: Use a timer to practice or count to 60 a few times.
Regenerating Nature
Listen to a Nature Podcast
I will spend 10 minutes listening to a podcast about nature.
Regenerating Nature
Calculate My Water Footprint
I will calculate my water footprint and look for a few ways I can reduce consumption or waste.
Enacting Equity
Support Low-Income Solar Initiatives
Whether by donating or volunteering, I will research the benefits of low-income solar and find out how I can support initiatives in my area.
Nourishing Food
Eat Plant-Based Meals
I will enjoy 1 meatless meal(s) and/or 1 vegan meal(s) each day this week.
Nourishing Food
Donate Food
I will find out what food programs are in my area and donate food and/or other items that they request.
Balancing Consumption
Less Screen Time
I will replace 20 minute(s) of screen time each day with other activities.

REFLECTION QUESTIONRegenerating Nature Listen to a Nature PodcastWhat podcast did you choose and what did you learn on the podcast you listened to?
Rene Brathwaite 10/06/2022 2:26 PMI listened to the BBC Earth Podcast. It was titled the desert rocks that "sing". It was about these really big boulders in the desert that have alot of hollows that "sing" when you beat it with a stick. These rocks were around for many many years. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNourishing Food Donate FoodWhy do you donate food? How does it connect to your values?
Rene Brathwaite 10/06/2022 2:04 PMThere are so many homeless/ hungry people out there. Being able to provide a nutritious meal (something that is fundamental to our survival) to someone less fortunate (especially children) makes me feel good. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBalancing Consumption Less Screen TimeWhat are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time inside and on screens?
Rene Brathwaite 10/05/2022 1:48 PMWow there are so many... when we are inside our vitamin D levels are potentially very low unless we are supplementing. Also the chances increase for someone to be overweight or obese since they wouldn't be moving around as much. It also leads to the body learning to be stagnant and increases the body being lazy and/or achy when moving around. It also affects someone being social and learning to connect and communicate verbally.-
Rowena Eng 10/07/2022 6:01 AMI've heard that people who live in NYC tend to have lower Vitamin D levels. I make a conscious effort to go out at least once a day even when I work remotely.
