  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Balancing Consumption Less Screen Time
What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time inside and on screens?

    Tara Richard's avatar
    Tara Richard 10/20/2022 8:46 AM
Too much screen time can have a dramatic affect on young children. Lack of fresh air, physical exercise, and human contact also negatively impacts everyone.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Cultivating Communities Stay on the Ground
What was your process like for restructuring your trip? How can you avoid more air travel in the future?

    Tara Richard's avatar

Switching from air travel to ground travel, such as by train, can have an impact on where you can go. It was easy to make the switch to train for the trip that we had planned. Instead of paying for a hotel, we booked a sleeper car on the train. It was a win-win.

To reduce more air travel, I have to plan for a longer trip to places due to longer travel time on the ground when driving, taking the train, etc...It does get a lot more cheaper when traveling this way for some places but it's also made me realize that when traveling by car, we have a great road trip when you have multiple people involved!

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Cultivating Communities Practice a Sharing Economy
What benefits does the sharing economy offer to you and others? If you are a little shy to try, what could be a first step for you?

    Tara Richard's avatar
    Tara Richard 10/18/2022 10:34 AM
Sharing economy offers a reduction in spending and waste. One person's trash, is another person's treasure.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Regenerating Nature Calculate My Water Footprint
What is one way you will reduce your water use? What is a practice you already have that helps you reduce your water use?

    Tara Richard's avatar
    Tara Richard 10/17/2022 9:32 AM
One way I will reduce my water use is to make sure that I take shorter showers. Only having the water run to wet my toothbrush instead of having it run the whole time while brushing my teeth is a great way to reduce water use.
