Kristen's actions
Nourishing Food
Forest-Friendly Foods
I will spend 5 minutes learning about palm oil, coffee, cocoa, and other products known to contribute to deforestation, and replace or remove them.
Nourishing Food
Make Zero-Waste Meals
I will cook 1 meal(s) with zero-waste each day.
Nourishing Food
Advocate for Equitable Food Access
Access to affordable, nutritious food is a food justice issue. I will advocate for equitable food options at work, campus, or in the spaces I frequent by contacting community leaders and/or doing other advocacy actions.
Nourishing Food
Compost Food Scraps
I will avoid sending up to .69 lbs (.31 kg) of food waste to the landfill per day by composting my food.
Regenerating Nature
Explore My Area
Each day, I will spend 10 minutes exploring a new area around my neighborhood, which might include a park, water body, trail, etc.
Regenerating Nature
Spend Time Outside
I will replace 10 minute(s) per day typically spent inside and often with electronics with quality time outside walking, exercising, enjoying the sunrise/sunset, gardening, journaling, observing nature, or practicing gratitude for nature.
Regenerating Nature
Take Shorter Showers
I will save up to 20 gallons (75 L) of water each day by taking 5-minute or less showers. Tip: Use a timer to practice or count to 60 a few times.
Regenerating Nature
Calculate My Water Footprint
I will calculate my water footprint and look for a few ways I can reduce consumption or waste.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

Kristen Olsen 10/25/2022 5:45 AMAs we are winding down, with one day left, what was your biggest challenge?-
Erin Dennis 10/25/2022 8:22 AMMine has definitely been food waste. I started logging it, and even with planning meals, we haven't decreased as much as I thought we would. But we'll continue to try!!!

Kristen Olsen 10/14/2022 5:04 AMSo, I was driving to another town and thought about saving gas and wondered, does using cruise control really save gas. So, I googled it and found, yes, it does! The reason why cruise control can help to save gas is that when accelerating or decelerating by placing the foot over the pedals the engine uses more gas. -
Kristen Olsen 10/13/2022 5:41 AMHow is everyone doing? Anyone having any challenges?-
Erin Dennis 10/13/2022 6:23 AMI just posted how I gave in to Amazon Prime Day Deals yesterday and not for anything I need. Trying not to be too hard on myself. But on the plus side, We have reduced our food waste these past two weeks and used less water! I love this challenge, because it's so eye-opening.
